Great trucks both the new and the old ones. My first new vehicle was a ‘94 Ranger XLT SuperCab (6’ bed) purchased in November of ‘93. I was an excited 23 year old and handled the purchase through Fort Mill Ford on my own. I hated to see that Ranger go when I bought my ‘02 F-150 Lariat SuperCrew, which I’m still driving 22+ years later. The only reason I sold my Ranger was I needed a back seat for children’s car seats. I absolutely loved having that 6’ bed for hauling my mountain bikes and kayak and after buying my first home, getting compost and mulch.

Now after 30+ years of driving these two great trucks I find myself looking for a new Ford truck and can’t find what best meets my needs in the entire Ford brand. The new F-150s are now too large and expensive. The new Ranger is perfect for my needs and budget with the only exception being I don’t want a smaller bed than what I currently have (5 1/2). Hopefully Ford will bring back the 6’ bed and make a SuperCrew configuration available with it. If not, I guess I’ll be buying my first Toyota (Tacoma)? I’d gladly write a check today, if Ford would make a Ranger in a SuperCrew/longbed configuration. And while I’m throwing out a wish, I’ll take it in a Tremor package too.

Again, great photos of old and new. Thanks for sharing them!

I agree - I'm going from a 2004 F-150 to a new Ranger and the only thing I'm having trouble getting used to is the 5' bed. It's six inches smaller, but it looks puny compared to my old bed. At least they made the 2024 wide enough to fit a piece of plywood/dry wall.

Good Lord! How do you keep those older Rangers so clean and crisp looking? And that lawn! Is that real? I cut all 5 blades of mine with scissors.

Give 'em 1 year in Alaska and they'll look like an old miner's truck. :p Actually, there are some really nice "summer only" vehicles in Alaska.

For those interested in the size growth of the Ford Truck products, I compared the 2024 Ranger with the 1990 F-150:

2024 Ford Ranger /// 1990 F-150:

MPG: 20/24 /// 15/18

Engine: 2.3L I4 /// 4.9L I6

HP: 270 /// 145

Torque: 310 /// 265

Max Towing: 7,500 /// 7,500

Length: 210.6 /// 210.2

Width: 75.5 /// 79 (excluding mirrors)

Height: 73.9 /// 69.9

Wheelbase: 128.7 /// 133

Great pictures and some clean old trucks .
Just re-confirms my thoughts of once a Ford man always a Ford Man .
Will be interesting to see what we are lining up the 6G in the parking lot in trade for in 15 years .

I really liked the Lariat and definitely the sable orange, but there was enough issues that I needed to get into something new and I’m more than pleased with the STX
