New poster here,

Recently, I’ve noticed that my new truck gets better mileage (highway) in normal mode than in eco. I live in rural Pennsylvania, so most of my driving is highway. On a 200 mile trip (100 each direction) the ranger got 24mpg in eco, and 26.5 in normal. Is eco mode geared to get better mileage in stop and go traffic?
Interested in hearing your thoughts.

That's pretty good. I've got a 2024 3.2 ecoboost Ranger XLT FX4 4X4 and I'm averaging 24.7 @ 70mph, 21mpg around town ( live in foothills 0 to 3,000 elevation change) and 23 -24 mpg @ 74mph.

eco reduces throttle response etc...so on the highway, it should make basically no difference. what makes a difference is 4A vs 2H..and eco has the latter as default, but you can use it in normal too with the dial

The XL doesn’t have the 4a option. Just 2h, 4h & 4l. I thought the eco mode was more geared toward city driving, just wasn’t sure. 👍

I have the same vehicle as you. I have the same display with the exception of on the bottom it is apparently showing what gear you are in where it says 10/10? My 2024 XLT does not show that, is it in the settings?

You just have to tap the left side of the gear shift which is for manual shifting in the M mode. In Drive it doesn't shift, it just shows the gear you are in. like it shows in my photo,

Something else to test is MPG with different grades of gas. My wife has 2018 Ford Fiesta, standard 4 cylinder engine with 32,000 miles. At 65mph she gets 36mpg with regular or premium gas. With midgrade gas she consistently gets 38mpg at 65mph. Testing was done with BP gas.

ive been looking for it on mine, with little success.
Push the mode button (mine is behind the shifter) twice in succession. Mine starts with Normal, and Eco should be the second option.

How many miles on your truck total? I know these ecoboosts take about 10k miles or so to break in and start getting better MPGs. My 2014 Focus ST 2.0 was a dog on mileage before that, and then got progressively better. Im at 7k miles right now on my 24 XL and getting 22+ and Im hoping to get back to 24 mpg at a minimum.

I'm at 8.5k now. Noticed better hwy mpg after 5k. Any variation hils, wind, speed(above 70mph) and mileage starts dropping. Average (summer blend gas) 19.5 mpg live in the northern Sierra Nevada foothills.
