Just wondering if you got this resolved? I've noticed my 24.5 making the same noise. Cheers
Unfortunately not! In my case, I can no longer drive the vehicle due to the constant extremely loud exceedingly high-pitched squealing after the vehicle warms up causing me headaches and tinnitus. I strongly believe the squeaking on boost when cold is related to the squealing issue.

I've been to three dealers, Etheridge Ford Lilydale, Knox Ford and Brighton Ford (original dealer) across the ~5 months I've owned the vehicle. Which started doing this only 3 weeks and <1000KM into my ownership. All three dealers initially acknowledged the issue verbally but eventually reverted to the "characteristic of the platform" statement after speaking to Ford HQ/Engineering.

All third party mechanics I've spoken to have informally advised it sounds like an issue with the turbo, an intake/boost leak, or an exhaust/manifold leak. They also stated this is normal and may cause accelerated wear on critical components. One of them even said "Holy Demon!" when they heard it...

I have mine booked in with one of those mechanics for a formal third party diagnosis. I'll let you know what they say.

It's honestly a joke for a vehicle of this value to do anything like this and not be fixed for over three months and then when requesting return, dismissing and rejecting that return in violation of Australian Consumer Law.

Ford. Built Trash. Never again...

You bought a car that’s made in Thailand and are complaining about the QC?
Do some more research before your next purchase…

Are you okay, mate? I could be wrong, but you seem to have taken my personal opinion and experience of the car as a direct attack on your character. I hope all is well for you!

Nonetheless, Ford charges a premium for it, so it should live up to Ford QA and if they can’t manage to do that in Thailand, that’s still a Ford issue.

No, nothing personal here.
Just pointing out some obvious facts.

Yep, because only cars made in the US could possibly be of acceptable quality, right? Do you reckon you could even point out where Thailand is on a map?

What an inane comment. If Ford put their name on something, it doesn't matter where it's made, a buyer should have an expectation that a new vehicle is of an acceptable standard.

I'm new here, but I hope you aren't a good indicator of the standard of community interaction.

What a nightmare. I'd be getting in touch with the ACCC and telling Ford you're doing so. That might light a fire under it for them.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, that’s all I have left. I’m pushing the CAV and ACCC route and hoping for the best.

Good luck with your Ranger, mate! If they find the issue for you, please let me know.

I’ll do the same from my side.

US, Germany, Spain, France, Russia, Japan.
All countries that make higher quality cars than Thailand…

From what I’ve seen online - the Thailand built Rangers are far better quality than the US built ones. Also important to note Thailand produces far more Rangers than the US, so there’s bound to be a few outliers of failures.

Also - we’re taking about engine issues here. I may be wrong but the v6 diesel engine is not made in Thailand - the car is assembled in Thailand. If it’s a turbo failure than that’s not an issue with the Thailand assembly plant but a rather component failure

Also why are you so butt hurt about someone buying a Ranger - it’s not like we get to decide where the Ranger we buy is assembled. And even if I did have the choice I would choose a Thailand assembled Rager over a US one. I’ve been to Thailand and the US and from what I’ve seen, the Thai people have an incredible work ethic and pride

Hilux is built there too.

It’s all still irrelevant, though. Ford chooses where they make their cars, if they can’t guarantee acceptable quality it is still their fault and they should take responsibility and accountability.

They are not taking responsibility or accountability and are violating my consumer rights under the ACL.

I hope this thread serves as a warning to potential buyers. I cross my fingers that you don’t get the same issue, because it won’t be acknowledged, fixed, replaced or returned in complete contravention of Ford’s responsibilities when doing business in Australia.

They’re not MADE in Thailand. They’re ASSEMBLED in Thailand. Thailand doesn’t control the quality of parts that Ford sources

Anyways the issue here isn’t assembly quality it’s a parts failure that Ford isn’t resolving for a paying customer.

100% time to get the ACCC involved. Light a rocket under their asses
