Would love to go but a little far and then the border crossing and extra paperwork. 😞

While I love exploring the Wyoming back country SOLO, especially in the NW corner high country, the idea of dozens of ATVs kicking up dust in a column in the desert for four days does not sound very appetizing to me. I did not see a route map, is there one? How tough would the harder trails be for a stock RR? Full sized vehicles, including RRs, generally should stay away from ATV trails!

For those that don’t know, much of central and south WY looks like the moon studded with oil and gas equipment. Depending on where this ride goes, it won’t be like seeing Yellowstone….

OTH Flaming Gorge NRA is cool,

and the Medicine Bow National Forest would be really neat. For example, the area around Battle Pass.
Battle Pass Scenic Byway drone video

Also it is a 5 hour Interstate drive from Evanston to Cheyenne, I guess the ATV guys have support vehicles meeting at the far end? It seems like a loop would make more sense for the family members who have to drive that.

And finally, you won’t see much wildlife on a big group ride like this. If that is important to you, go solo….

A stock Ranger or 4x4 will do just fine along the route. Some of the highlights of the route is the expansive Red Desert, Battle Pass, and Snowy Range. I’m waiting on them to send an updated map, but you can view the preliminary route here. It will be a mix of dirt roads, rocks, sand, and high elevation trails. The folks on ATVs will need to provide their own transportation back and haul their own fuel. I would rather be in a vehicle on this route like a Ranger/Bronco/Jeep to be honest due to the distance and fuel required. Those ATVs beat me up just going 50-75 miles. Im sure some folks can complete the route in 2 days depending on how fast your going and amount of breaks taken.

This sounds like fun. Any way to talk to someone who has been on this trip?

I dont know anyone on the 250th committee that has ran the entire route. It will be an adventure for sure!

I helped map the sections from Rawlins to Cheyenne. The red desert area is so vast, I have not explored much in that area besides the Killpecker sand dunes. Most of the area I have explored is the Sierra Madress and Snowy Range areas.

So you think my 2025 Ranger, larger tires and 1.5" front level will do just fine then?
