I have to say that I'm disappointed that Ford doesn't have a better power option for the RR. My 2023 F-150 Tremor had the optional 2KW Pro Power Onboard that came in handy for charging power units like Goal Zero and Jackery. The RR's 400W outlet in the bed isn't functional for either my Goal Zero Yeti 1500 or Jackery Explorer 1500. I have a Goal Zero charger that I measured draw with a Kill-a-watt meter to be in the mid-300W range - using that will show it incrementing up on the GZ unit until around 250W or so and then goes back down and cycles up again - not workable. For the Jackery, I set the power to custom and 300W in the app and nada - no input to the Jackery. The RR outlet does work with low power - quick test with a DeWalt battery charger was good. I don't know where the cutoff is and why I'm not able to get even 300W to work. I will try the interior outlet just as a troubleshooting step tomorrow. I may have to go with a 1KW or 2KW inverter if that is compatible with the RR alternator. Jackery does have a DC-to-DC charger that will use the RR alternator but is a $240 specific solution that would only work for the Jackery line. I'm not planning on solar at this point - trying to avoid the whole roof rack or bed rack thing I had going on the Tremor and associated weight penalty.
Any input welcome - no pun intended.
Let me know if you've already gone down this road with Goal Zero, Jackery or similar, keeping a fridge charged, etc. Btw, I'm looking at AAL's BASE system with slide out tray for the fridge/power unit. Just using a temporary setup with Nite Ize straps in the bed for fridge and power unit - under a Diamondback HD bed cover, so I have plenty of options for stealth and weatherproof electronics mounting and such - especially after AAL's MOLLE panels down the road.
Any input welcome - no pun intended.
