Its not an issue with the feature persay but its implementation. My forester has it, and i turn it off every time I get in the car. Its fine when the car shuts off, but when it turns it self back on, its very jarring. Combined with the fact, that if it tries to restart while I dont fully depress the brake pedal and push it back in, the motor falls all over itself. Similar thing happens in a lot of cars. The fact that people don’t want this feature, but actually spend money on this product baffles me!

If the implementation was smoother and it didnt stumble on it self in certain situations, people would leave it on, but its more annoying then anything due to how it works.
Yeah im glad that you like it, but its only purpose is to increase range / meet emissions standards. Lots of us do not like its behavior and dont like de-activating every single time.I’ve never had a single issue.
The only thing it didn’t love about it in my 2020 Ranger was when you come to a stop to park, the engine will shut off, then when you put the trans in park it will turn back on, then you shut the car off because you just parked.
My 24 doesn’t do that. I will be leaving this feature on and using it how Ford intended.
I've had it stutter when moving into heavy traffic. Not a fun feeling to push the gas and nothing happens. That's my biggest gripe. It isn't safe enough for me. I want to go when I want to go, not 1 1/2 - 2 seconds later. Also, are these starters some type of super starter. The wear and tear has to play in as a factor.I’ve never had a single issue.

TBH it seemed more of a nuisance in my wife’s 2020 Edge, maybe because I have driven the Ranger only in the heat of the Florida sun with the ac on. It doesn’t cycle as much. Driving the Edge made me swear that I would by a bypass if I ever got a vehicle that “needed” it. I was just passing on the info that they were back in stock.I installed one a couple of months ago, I love it. One big caution, the connector plugs are really hard to push back together completely - one was not quite clicked tight. When I tested the operation, the truck was pretty much dead. Pushing extra hard did the trick. They do not warn you about this. Make sure you check it before reinstalling the glovebox. Also add a couple of nylon ties to secure the wires.
My wife wants one now for her RDX. But that requires pulling the center dash trim, which I am reluctant to do (potential rattles). The RR install was super simple.

I deeply appreciate the information sharing, important to some or not. You provided it. We do what we want with it. Your bafflement is truly baffling. The fact that people don’t want this feature, but actually spend money on this product baffles me!
In practice, you may have to unmount the Gateway Module to get the connector off. It is a bit of a pisser. A couple of us have found out the hard way.Video shows easy installation behind the glovebox
I know right?Your bafflement is truly baffling.
