Thanks,

Do you know if there is a better # than 800-392-3673?
I had more contact info at one time but can't find it now, did a factory rep come look at your truck ? The dealer might be able to give you more on who to contact , as its going to be corporate ford that makes the decision on extended warranty . I will keep searching my emails for the contact info . ford , did you try 800 565 3673 thats customer relations

It's more than a puff of vapor, it's a puddle of coolant on the ground under the front diff. It's at the dealer again now; hopefully they figure it out today. I could see it running down the motor mount from below the truck, so I'm hoping it's just a bad turbo line. They topped it off Monday and added dye and told me to drive it for a couple weeks. I drove it 2 miles Tuesday night and then parked it. Wednesday morning it had a small puddle of coolant under it.

I was intermittently smelling coolant after shutting the truck off, and took it into the dealer this week.

They were having trouble diagnosing it, and finally figured out that it was leaking coolant at the back of the motor, and dripping on the exhaust which is why no puddle was to be found.

Now, 3 days later they've brought in a factory tech and have determined that there is a casting /machining issue with the passenger side head and at a minimum it will need to be replaced, or swap the entire motor.

I'm obviously not thrilled about a dealership tech getting that deep into the engine with only 8k miles. This now apparently lies with an FSE (field service engineer) to determine the next course of action, and they expect to have the truck for a couple weeks.

Has anyone experience similar? Is there any recompense to push for an extended warranty, etc?

This is the first new vehicle I've ever bought, out of the 15+ that i've owned. What a bummer.
Sh--, I hope i don't have that problem. My Ranger Raptor has recently started smelling of hot/burning coolant when I shut it down. Hope I don't have sane issue.

Update:

Took 6 weeks but I finally got the truck back. Engine was pulled, and the head was replaced.

Ford offered an extended warranty, which I accepted.
Good deal glad they offered it with out a bunch of BS !!! So it was a pin hole in the casting ?

I've had similar issue since new, intermittently smelling burning coolant. Reservoir is at the min mark but never bothered to look when I bought it to see if it was filled to that point new.

Haven't been able to find the source, if any so far, but if I do, I'll report back what I find. Just got mine pro cal tuned at about 6k miles, but issue has existed since I bought it with only 50 miles on it.

Been poking around but haven't found anything obvious yet. If I can track it down, I'll report back. Thinking it may also be a turbo coolant line or at the back dropping onto the exhaust since I does not see any accumulation anywhere

BTW, this seems to be a somewhat common issue with the 2.7L NANO's in the Bronco's, I would imagine some B-Raptors have seen that as well as I'm sure the 2.7L and 3.0L use many of the same fittings. Also, a common issue on the F-150 3.5L EB's.

My guess, quality control issues with Ford's suppliers for the fittings. Lowest bidder! I'm fairly convinced now the low coolant reservoir is due to a slow leak, not my other theory that it was filled improperly from the factory.

I wonder if any of the 2.7L XLT's have had this issue?

I have the same problem. Everything started with a check engine light a month ago, giving me this codes P0300 and P0304.

2025 RR with the ProCal Tune installed. 8K miles.

1. Took it to the dealership and the light went off. Dealer couldn't replicate the issue.
2. Took the car back home, days later light turn on.
3. Again in the dealership they told me they can't find the issue they might need to open the engine. The only technician who can do that is not available after January 2026. If I want the issue to be taken care of earlier, I should try and find other dealership or even take it to were I bought it from.
4. I contact dealership where I purchased the vehicle (at this time I never told them what the other dealership told me to open the engine), they "fixed the problem" change spark plug #4 and coil.
5. I pick up the vehicle, drove back home and everything seems fine.
6. Next day, check engine light turns on. Contact the same dealership, explain the situation and right of the bat they told me they need to dig deeper of what the problem is. I asked if they were willing to provide me with a loaner and they agreed.
7. It's been 4 days in the shop and they contacted me with this: "We performed a pressure test and fount that the coolant was leaking and that leak went up to the spark plugs and contaminate the engine. It is most likely the engine is going to be replaced. We have contacted Michigan build plant requesting a new engine. It could take 4 more days".

With all this. This is my first brand new vehicle and I encountered this problem. I'm not sure if this is a reliability issue or a standalone issue. I'm thinking to trade it in and go with a different brand of vehicle.

I think it means it went INTO the combustion chamber, not "up to the spark plugs". Either cracked block or bad head gasket.

I feel your pain but consider yourself lucky....we just found out last week there was a TSB released in 2024 for Mazda's 2.5 Turbo engines, around 3-5% of 2016-2020's had a manufacturing defect in the heads (air bubbles in the casting), so the heads would crack right by the turbo bolts and allow coolant to leak out.

Mazda fixed the manufacturing defect with the castings and then beefed up the heads for added precation for 2021-2023 2.5 T engines and offers a 10 yr / 120k extended warranty for affected cars, but guess how many miles we have on ours? 125k.....freakin' 5k out of warranty.

Dealer we use for service felt bad and took it as a trade in anyway at 3k over what we owed, I got the wife into a nice 2026 CX-50 Premium. We were planning on keeping the CX-9 until the wheels fell off, but the cost of repair "out of warranty" for that was over 8k because you have to take the engine out of the car to get the heads off (according to the Mazda shop manual).

Crap like that happens to EVERY car company, it sucks, but at least yours was on a new car, fully covered under warranty you didn't get screwed just post warranty.
