Advice on PPF and ceramic

Hey everyone, I recently received my 2024 ranger raptor (silver). I was wanting to do something along the lines of ppf and ceramic for the exterior. I will be keeping the truck for a while as it will be given to my son in about 4-5 years. Do you think it’s worth to do the entire truck in ppf or just ppf the entire front. It will be getting a full ceramic coat regardless. Thanks for your help.

Professionally applied Ceramic for sure. PPF in addition is a matter of personal preference. Depending on the driving habits of your kid it might be a waste of money. Also, depending on the quality of your detail shop and the number of Ceramic. base and top coats you opted to get, you should be getting annual maintinance.

Its a Raptor so If you drive off road PPF is viable option.

Prior to ceramic and PPF, I would also make sure to have a paint correction performed as these cars come with many paint imperfections and scratches.
I did 5 year ceramic and the whole front in PPF…

After having front PPF on my ‘21 Ranger Lariat, I got factory front PPF and 9yr ceramic from a detail shop (with paint correction) on my ‘24 Ranger Lariat. If I were to do it over, I wouldn’t buy the PPF from the factory; the aftermarket products have better fitment.

I have both PPF and multi-coat ceramic and plan annual maintenance by the installer and would do it again. I would at least consider PPF on front and fender sides/rockers and part of hood where chips tend to happen.
I wash less with ceramic, but it is more difficult in winter because I avoid going through car washes due to their harsh detergents and high PH that can affect the ceramic over time. I use two-bucket method with foaming soap w/neutral PH made for ceramic finishes.

I am planning to keep my RR for long, hence I opted for PPF. Peace of mind. The cost hurt , but long term , it's worth it.

I went with PPF on the hood, fenders, and front bumper. I don’t trust ceramic coat to repel rock chips like PPF. Probably don’t need to do the whole truck but that’s up to you.

I'm getting mine completely covered in PPF next week. They of course do a mild paint correction beforehand. I've done partial PPF on my last three vehicles and generally been happy wit the decision. My area does tar-and-chip on the roads in summer, which will ruin your paint quickly. For the RR though, with the big chunky tires and taking it off-road, I wanted some protection for the paint from rocks/branches/etc., which led me to do the full coverage for peace of mind.

Discussed the idea of ceramic with the installer and their take was they are happy to sell it to me (they use Modesta coatings), but they feel the film they use is glossy to the point that ceramic isn't adding much.

They are going to peel and dispose the graphics package at the same time. You might ask installers how they approach the graphics and badges when they install. Different shops handle it differently (i.e., some shops take some shortcuts which may or may not matter to you). In my experience, the good shops remove your badges, place the film, then place the badges back down on the film with new adhesive. In other words, they aren't cutting holes into the film for the badges to come through. Stickers/decals can go either way (replaced or covered over so that they are under the film).

You'll be looking at $5k+ for PPF on the full truck.

Great choice. I have Xpel PPF and their fusion plus ceramic on my Porsche 718 and it's been a great product so far. Very high gloss and easy to keep looking that way. I use their ceramic boost spray after every other wash and it looks amazing.
