I had one of the Ford Performance kits for my 5.0 F150. It was high mileage and used for a lot of short trips. I was amazed at how much it would capture. Before using it I would get a lot of the forbidden Dijon on my oil cap. After being installed it remained clean at oil changes and inspections.

The only thing I didn't like about the FP kit was it is small and shallow. I would often have to empty it once a week in winter or remove it entirely. The water condensate would freeze and fill up quickly.

Interested to hear what 2.3 experience is like. I went with a UPR single can kit for my RR. No capture yet but only installed for about a month and right after an oil change.

I have it installed. I bought it from CJ Pony as it was cheaper than directly from Ford. It took 30-45 minutes. I spent most of the fighting with the single use orange clips on the old hose.

It looks nice and OEM. I cannot comment on effectiveness as it's been on for less than 100 miles.

FWIW, it's on a 2.3L XLT. First oil change was at 1,000 miles. It's at 2,000 miles now and I'm planning on changing the oil again soon and then a 3rd time at 5,000 miles. I can report back on how it worked between the 2k and 5k oil change, but it may be a while I don't drive it that much.

The problem with this design as well as the newly released UPR catch can for the RRaptor and BRaptor is that they are mounted deep inside the engine compartment where ambient temperatures are too hot to allow the vapors in the can to condense and drop out of the recirculated air from the engine's crankcase.

I put a UPR catch can on my GT350, but it mounts in the front of the engine compartment where it is exposed to outside air coming through the grill. No matter how hot the engine and compartment gets, the can itself is always cooled by this exposure to outside air. As a result, it does a fantastic job of catching water and fuel vapors, and I need to empty it quite often.

I put the same can on my Raptor, but the only place I could find to mount it was between the radiator and the front of the engine. I've had it on for 1500 miles, and when I checked it recently, it was bone dry. Now, it may be that it just takes longer to collect anything on this smaller engine, and it could also be that because the engine is new and tight and built completely different, that it's just not creating as much blowby (would still think the turbos would offset that). However, what I do know is that the catch can is ALWAYS too hot to touch when the engine has been brought up to operating temp, and it makes sense to me that the vapors just cycle right through without there being enough of a temperature differential to cause condensation.

My theory only.

It's an engine bay. It's gonna be hot. Besides, from my experience you won't get much in it when it's hot out. In the winter months you have to empty it weekly.

@greaserman, I don't have any pics before it was it was installed. I like how the PCV goes into the bottom and the air has to go up through the filter inside the catch can, and then out to intake. The bracket that comes with the catch can mounts to existing studs on the cam cover. The AOS comes with blue clips that are twisted to disconnect, it's much better than the orange OE clips.

*Orange circles are where it connects to the PCV and intake.

@greaserman Not yet because it's only been a few days and less than 100 miles. I don't expect much during the warm months, but I do expect a lot during the MN winter months.

But I will add that there are many videos on this on YouTube for Broncos, 5th Gen Rangers, and other models like Mustangs and F-150s. I tried to stick to Bronco reviews as they were the closest platform and had the same engine. They all said the same thing. Not much in summer and a fair amount in winter.

My goal with this is to prolong the carbon cleaning interval. I hope I can make it 60k instead of 45K before calling in the walnuts :D
