Love the truck, hate the sound. Sounds like a sewing machine.

realize that sound is very subjective but what have you done to improve the sound of yours? Cold air, cat back exhaust, blow off valve (less interested) are all on the table. Not looking to sound obnoxious, but want a little more drama when I step on the gas - extra credit if it actually adds performance.

the exhaust sound clips are helpful (borla sounds decent to me), but videos with a cold air intake are pretty sparse and I don’t hear much difference in the ones that I have seen.

Whatever you do, don’t buy the the Borla cat back system.
The factory muffler rusted out on my 2020 Ranger w/ 60k miles (thanks Ford) so I bought the Borla stainless system.

Sounded like a fart can and somehow also had a horrible drone at every single rpm. It really was unbearable!

I’ve had Borla exhausts on many different vehicles over the years, but this really was undrivable.
I’ve yet to hear any 2.3 ecoboost sound not like crap.

the Borla probably sounded the “best” of those I’ve heard, but if the drone is a common issue that’s a dealbreaker.

Any suggested exhaust systems that improve the sound, aren’t obnoxious, and don’t have drone?

Maybe call and talk to spintech. They make custom mufflers and arent outrageous. I put one on my nissan truck and it sounded awesome

Interesting, but hard to pull the trigger without hearing one or having any real world recs. Maybe I'll give them a call to see if theyve even done one for the Ranger. Don't really want to guinea pig it.

I know they do 4 cylinder engine stuff and i think we put ine on my son's focus st with 2.0 but i have to ask him what we ended up actually installing. We tried a few things to get his car to sound ok because it had a straight pipe when we got it

When i had my 23 Tremor, I added a MBRP dual real that sounded so good. Added a Roush intake and made it even deeper. Added a big mouth air scoop in the grill.

Noticeable increase in excelleration. Don't care what anyone says about intakes. This one worked for me. Was happy with it.

Sound clips are useless when shopping exhaust. Tried that method with my Mustang and it took me 3 tries to get the sound I really wanted. Expensive lesson. I know that AFE just released exhaust systems for the 2.3 but it's impossible to know what they truly sound like IRL.

Ok, it was a spintech muffler with a vibrant resonator. It made the car so much quieter inside but still sound good outside and if you got on it, you knew it.

Thats a 2014 focus st with the 2.0 ecoboost so similar engine

Having owned and modified a Focus RS, I’d wholeheartedly disagree that the 2.0 sounds even remotely close to the 2.3.

Has anyone ever split the exhaust manifold 1 and 3 like the old 6 cylinders 2 and 4?
