Bad sound quality on BT/Handfree : where are the microphones ?

Hello

We have a very bad quality on the sound when we are speaking in the car, the interlocutor at the phone is always complaining about the sound quality.
Does anyone knows where the microphones are located in the car ?
As I suspect that the additionnal smartphone holder in place in our car may interfere with the mic.

Any other bad experiences with the sound quality by phone ?

just raise your head, you will see a small plastic holed dot on the ceiling. that's the mic

That is what I believed too.
But I suspected that there are some other mic somewhere at the top of the dashboard to complet those on the ceiling.
If not, maybe we have an issue with those on the ceiling.
Or any other bugs somewhere ....

try to cover the one on ceiling and see what happens. there are no mic in the top plastic shroud where the airbag LED is.

I was curious if anyone is still experiencing the crappy phone quality. I have had numerous complaints from people that I am talking to and they say there is a great deal of background noise. I have also been on the receiving end of that noise when I have called my wife when she is using the truck.

All cell phones for a long time have had multiple holes for the microphone for noise canceling. This concept does not need multiple microphones to be successful. The truck is not that noisy in the cab, so I am really surprised by the bad phone mic audio. Most youtuber's that record with phones or go pros, don't have these issues, so it has to be a really crappy mic, its location, or no venting of the back side of the mic.

Has anyone tried anything to improve this issue?

Thank you for sharing this experience, at least I know we are not alone.
The Ranger will go today to Ford for the service. Let's see if they can find some default.

You guys are not alone in this issue, it's honestly really annoying. I've called a dozen different people and they all say the same.

If you have windows down, it noise cancels so much from the wind people can barely hear you. I basically need to put all windows up to talk to anyone and they still complain about the quality. Probably just shitty mics IMO.
