Anyone know why the rangers seem to randomly forget programmed trailer settings.

Ever since I installed my lighted headache rack on my 2024 Ranger Raptor.
About 2 years ago, I have had to program its lights as if it were a trailer.

Which that trailer program setup has to be done in order to get the blindside monitors back online.

Which for weeks and at times months it would never have any issues, but periodically it forgets its default trailer settings, which I have stored as headache rack only.

Here in the past month it’s lost the default setting at least a dozen times.
‘It’s happened 4 times this week. Twice today actually.

No idea why it’s all the sudden forgetting its trailer settings.

Thus happening to anyone else?

Anyone know of a fix or what is causing it to forget its trailer settings randomly ?

Could it in any way be related to the Trailer module campaign #26C10?

That?
Or, maybe disconnect the rack. But then you'd have to tow an actual trailer constantly for a while to see if it misbehaves.

Sounds very interesting .
Thanks!

This is the description I found for that campaign.

Sounds like this could be what is happening.
I am Teed in on the back side of the bumper off the trailer plug.
Since I am driving at the time I am not sure if my lights on the rack are still working or not.

This issue in the trailer control module may cause it to stop communicating with the vehicle, which typically happens when the vehicle is first started. If this occurs while a trailer is connected, the trailer’s stop lamps and turn signals will not illuminate. Additionally, on vehicles equipped with a “High series” trailer module, the trailer’s braking function will also be lost. These conditions result in a noncompliance with federal safety standards and can reduce a driver’s ability to control an attached trailer while making it less visible to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

If a vehicle experiences this communication loss, the driver will see a “Trailer Brake Module Fault” message on the instrument panel cluster, and the turn signal indicator will flash rapidly. A “Blind Spot Assist System fault” message may also appear on the dashboard.

Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or fires attributed to this issue.

Starting March 17, the update will be available for the majority of vehicles via Over-the-Air (OTA), dealership, or mobile service. OTA updates are expected to be deployed for all vehicles by May.

Customers can determine if their vehicle is included in this recall by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at www.nhtsa.gov/recalls. Ford’s reference number for this recall is 26C10.

Does that not interfere with the trailer modes? I have heard of others plugging in to the 4-pin and it causing trailer connection errors as it confuses it into think a trailer is attached.

Shouldn’t effect anything, just adding more lights with adding an actual trailer .
Would need to add a different trailer profile for proper BLIS distance setup.
Can’t recall , but I don’t think I have pulled anything with it yet,

I have trailers and equipment but nothing light enough to be pulling with a ranger.
i have a few larger trucks for pulling my trailers.

I can't answer the question but on mine, for no rhyme or reason, sometimes I will gat a dash message "trailer disconnected" sometimes days after I actually disconnected it.

Got the 26C10 Update done today.
I‘probably had a 6-10 restarts today and so far so good, has yet to forget the trailer setting for my rack lights.
