Borrowed from another forum as it’s a great idea for off topic discussion.

Looking forward to seeing what beers & other libations everyone is enjoying!
I’m a beer guy mostly, but do some alright mixed drinks & enjoy wine as well.

Tonight’s selection is one of my old favorites. Not so much that the beer is by itself better than other raspberry ale options in cans nowadays, but that the brewery itself is an excellent pub to hang out at & eat. They stared doing this back when nobody had heard of micro breweries. It’s been in our community mall for about as long as I can remember & is always a happening place especially on a Friday night. I can’t go & not run into someone I know, despite being in such a large city. Ordering it in pub will net you one of your daily servings of fruits with raspberries floating on top. I didn’t recreate that at home.

No beer January months since '87. Started these while stationed in Germany. This weekend is a new month and no local micro brews around here, not easy to get excited about finding a beer for Saturday. CO, UT, NC, and VT have had some really good micro brews for me over the years.

I don't drink alcohol but I did have a ice cream filled rootbeer popsicle. It was delicious
Oh man that does sound good! Root beer float like I’m assuming?

Differences in laws between the states? Or just a culture there that doesn’t support micro breweries? Here we have so many it’s actually difficult to find much outside the city as there’s enough choice to fill store shelves without going farther. Even stuff from elsewhere in Alberta isn’t as common.

You’d actually be amazed at how tough it is to find something as common as Sam Adams here for example. But I have so many other choices I could keep this thread going myself for a long time to come.

It's not laws. Seems like the cool places/towns to hang-out offer micro brews. Lots of IPA out there and I'm not really a fan of them. Kentucky's fame are bourbons.

Ah yeah I hadn’t thought about Kentucky being a bourbon area, that makes sense then as the focus. Hopefully somebody will share a great bourbon here too! IPA does seem to be the flavor of the day now. I usually enjoy them though so I’m less disappointed when I see a multitude of them on the shelves here.

This is one from Utah that I like. Brought some back for a neighbor, and he liked it as well.

Thanks for the recommendation! Will have to try it when I get back down that way. I certainly want to visit Utah again.

One of my favorite local ones. It’s a pretty light ale & I’m a pretty light beer guy. For those doing dry January or just abstaining altogether they do have a non-alcoholic version. Appropriately called.. wait for it… Zero People Skills.

I also have a fascination with buying odd & weird vintage barware on Fleabay. This pattern is called Noritake Spotlight & is heavy enough even I can’t accidentally break it. This is the 12oz size, I have 8oz too. Apparently made in all the weird glass colors possible from 74-83.

Nectar of the (beer) Gods.…delicious! Just poured one tonight.
Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island in Chicago, I’ve been drinking it for about ten years. Bourbon barrel aged, this years version is 14.1% ABV, released every year on Black Friday, and when it’s gone it’s gone…until next Black Friday.

As to proper glassware, this glass is superb, I have six of them.

BTW…Great thread!
