Buying a Ranger XLT third time the charm?

When shopping for a 2025 Ranger XLT my dealer found the perfect one but unfortunately someone purchased it while we were arranging for transfer.
For my second attempt I spec-ed out what I wanted (2025) and we placed a build order (Oct 6), well 3 weeks later I learned my order was: "Unscheduled - Balance Out" So no build.
Third attempt ordered a 2026.

Wow well hope it works out this time. I wanted a desert tan XLT FX4 but it was sold as i was trying to do the transfer as well. Ended up with a Carbonized gray BAP XLT 4x4. While the color isn’t my top choice I like the truck.

Have you done a National search? The rebates are worth it even with shipping and the 2026 is spending more for not much difference, unless you go with Granger Ford in Iowa at 4% below invoice. I bought my 2025 Ranger from a dealer in South Dakota that had exactly what I wanted, evaluated my trade over the phone and pictures I sent, bank transferred the money, did the paperwork via email docs, shipped to my door in Kansas in 48 hours, and backhauled my F150 a couple days later. Dealers are not trading anymore, it seems, but I am very happy with McCormick Ford in Salem, SD.

No I did not search country wide. My first attempt was from PA to CT and they even worried me as to who was going to drive it. To have it flat bedded was pricey.
The 2026 has some nice features and the weather will be better when I receive it too.

Vehicle transport via open trailer, by essentially hot shot carriers (not tow trucks), has been running around $1.50 per mile give or take 25 cents. 1000 mile transport is running around $1500.00
a 500 mile transort is around $750-800. Just to give you an idea what it would likely cost you to widen your search.

I agree the saving with the end of year rebates right now comparing to a ordered 2026 with little or no changes to them would likely be worth a deeper dive (Wider search) to find a 2025 that meets your desired spec.

That does not include 10% or more trucks dealers hide in the Ford system. cc1999 helped me find one, and very grateful. I never bought a vehicle this way, was a bit concerned, but at age 70 still figured it out. Shipping was $800 each way through Yada Transport; dealer arranged open carrier, which I considered the rebates paid for. Saved putting the miles on a new truck.

Thanks, I looked at Autotrader too but nothing fit the bill. Perhaps because I'm looking for a lot of extras.

Yea that white one was the closer match.
It had the 301A and pretty much everything you can get on an XLT.

You can get the VIN to produce the window sticker unless the dealer hid it. I use Ford window sticker by VIN-Free tool. As you say, when you order you get what you want. Production starts in January. Try to lock in any trade price now because the market on used vehicles fluctuates.
