I am thinking about installing a trickle charger so I opened the hood/bonnet to look for space and I FOUND THIS, Michigan made Ranger 2.7 Lariat- passenger side. Surely somebody knows what it is for???

Block heater bracket is in the lower bumper next to the ACC radar bracket.

Confirmed it’s in the Ranger raptor engine bay too. Unused. Seems kinda flimsy so wondering if it’s for a wiring harness ground or something.

Also checked the bronco and bronco raptor engine bay pictures and it’s not there (they share lots of parts)

Now I’m thinking “can I build my own “power tray” with it.”

I found this pic on a ROW model. Looks like a ground wire is attached. Seems like it was intended for more than that.

Inverter location for add-on dual-battery accessories for camping and/or solar PV input? Single air compressor mount?
Just a guess.

Well, so far that is the only actual use of the part. Agree that it appears to be for something else but at least, in this photo, it is being used for something else but:)

I think the only thing my truck doesn’t have is a trailer brake and/or the trailer backup assist. I wonder if anybody with those options could determine if it is for a trailer based wiring harness.

I have the trailer brake controller. Not that. The bolt hole plus slot is a common grounding strap approach ford uses on their vehicles.

It’s pretty flimsy to be anything structural.

It appears to be for the Raptor air filter/washer fluid reservoir.

I wanted to use that to add a fuse block for accessories. However, I can't find bolts that fit the threads. They're painted, so that can make threading difficult at first, but I took that into account.

Anyone know?
