Charging Fault Causing Other Faults

Hey all.

I have a 2022 Raptor. And have been getting The following faults. Had a Diag. Tech from Ford look into it. The Service Tech said they performed some firmware updates, but did not tell me what the issue was. I guess they were only hoping the updates would have fix a bug.

I'm wondering if it is a low voltage issue that is causing these faults ot occur. The errors always differ. But the worst part is the infotainment screen turns off several times on a trip. Has anyone else had these issues.

What is the actual battery voltage reading while driving? You can see the battery voltage in the measurments page in the drivers display. Might be worth monitoring it while driving. Could be a faulty battery or alternator issue? Both of which can be confirmed by any service centre

I test battery voltage with multimeter. It was sitting at about 12.7V with the car off.

There’s little to no load on the battery with the car off. You need to monitor the battery voltage when driving - that is also when you’re getting these errors. The battery is also taking on voltage with the engine running via the alternator. You’re not testing much by just reading the battery voltage with the car not in operation

I had this problem with my 2020 Ranger. Battery and alternator checked good. After several trips to the dealer the battery finally showed on the diagnostic as the problem. Replaced the battery and all the problems went away.

I agree. I just wanted to check the state of the battery.

I am betting there is a ton of below minimum threshold voltage code causing the cascading error messages. I would be looking at the battery and main grounds for it.

Have the battery load test. This is the only why to determine it’s charging and recovery capacity. Voltage checking won’t determine the state of the battery. Always do the simplest thing first.

Personally, what you’re posting gives the impression of a few cells in the battery are dead or on their way.

Yes, this can happen with a new AGM battery.
