Read through the post, which kit did you buy, the bronco version? They dont list the Ranger on their site.

I think it’s available, but I have no idea which one;👍🇺🇸 https://www.diodedynamics.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Hitch
RH...... I know it's been a while, but how do you release the wire plug that goes into the bumper assembly. Mine is fighting me, and I'm unsure how the retention clip works. There seems to be a metal strip along one side. Do you just push on the front part and wiggle free? Or is there more to it? I was under the truck on the drive, 40 degrees, so I didn't spend a lot of time on it. Will complete install in heated garage once I'm sure I can get harness loose.

Little gray retainer. It needs to be removed carefully and reutilized. Once it’s removed, you push down on the tab that locks it in place to remove the OEM plug.

Then line up the Diode Dynamics plug with the OEM the plug mounted on the bumper. It’s not exactly easy to push into place but the best way is; to lower the spare tire so you have enough room to see and work. Once you do, you be able to see to match up the plug. Once the DD plug is in place re-install the little gray clip.

Pushing the harness into the back of the hitch requires the removal of the tabs with a side cutters or a Dremel Tool and sanding drum, which is the best way. Then it will push thru the small hole at the back of the hitch.

I don’t have any photos but I can take a few tomorrow and post them.👍🇺🇸

Thank you so much for getting back so quickly. No need to post pics, I've been under truck with a mirror and flashlight a few times today. But I really never seen a clip like that 7 pin ....ugghhh

Really, then how come it hasn’t since it’s been installed? Functions just like it’s suppose to, actually better than expected.

Oh almost forgot, no trailer function either. 👍🇺🇸

Sorry to say, but he’s right about all of the error codes. It did the same thing on my RR. I call ed DD and the were completely aware of the problem, but did not have a fix. They suggested that I might be able to splice into one of the brake light wiring harnesses, but couldn’t guarantee that would work either. Needless to say, it was money down the drain.

Was yours the c1 or the c1r+brake? Thanks in advance

I also just attempted this install too but ran into the trailer error codes. c1r+brake. Did you ever figure out a work around?

Yes, there’s an extra wire and connector that came with the unit. This wire is to power the light with using power from the actual trailer plug. 🔌 This is the video that solves the issue.

Follow the instructions and the problem will be gone.🇺🇸

This sort of works on the RR. I actually used one if the aux wires(aux 3 and 4 are right by the trailer wiring) at the back of the truck to supply the power like the video explains. The truck now sometimes says there's a trailer and then syas trailer disconnected right away. These 2 warnings happen right after eachother and when you are driving it doesn't think there is a trailer but these 2 warnings do cycle when you start out.

Finally had a chance to try again. I added the external power wire and connected it to Aux3. I tested power to the wire using a multi-meter.

Unfortunately, I still get a "Cross-Traffic Alert deactivated, Trailer attached" warning at start up and then a "Rear Parking Sensors deactivated" warning when putting the truck in reverse.

Any ideas on what I could be missing?
