Order it, and it will ask you which dealer you want it shipped to and you will pay for it and installation and then you can go to your dealer and they will have it and install it. That’s the one you see on my truck in the picture above.

It’s great to be able to lock my key in the truck when I exercise, swim, go to the beach, etc. Or to unlock or lock the truck when I’m home without having to go inside to get the key or phone.
YES!!! I use mine the same way and find it extremely useful. Once you get used to having one you will never want a vehicle that doesn't have one.

I had my dealership order a keypad for my 2025 Ranger Raptor (used my points) and they installed it as well and programmed in a number that I specified for me at no extra charge.

seems like I read it somewhere where Ford was having difficulty shielding it from the truck thieves hacking it
Tell us more about this; I'm not finding anything on the web other than a limited "hack" of keyfobs for one or two models in 2017 and 2019 (2019 mustangs and f150 raptors, and 2017 expeditions). That key hack might have gone so far as to remote start a vehicle but the vehicle remained disabled so it couldn't be stolen. And that hack also required recording the transmissions from both legitimate fobs then using software-defined radio to replay specific recordings from the first fob.

So what am I missing about the keypads?

Yup, Outdoorsy people will use it. Where you do not want your keys in your pocket.
Hiking, Swimming, SUPing, etc. If you are a Home Body maybe not so useful.

My ? is with the key start, does that create more problems for thieves over the push button start.
