I'm 6'3" 220 lbs and I tend to just step over the running board because it's so high that if I step on it I'm towering over the door opening.

Anyone tried something like this?

6'9" and I'm used to always ducking when I climb or drop into vehicles. The Ranger is so low the steps are worthless.

6’ 170. A little longer legs and arms than average.

possibly the easiest vehicle I’ve ever driven to enter exit.

and the driving position is excellent. I believe the 10 way seats help in that regard.

i don’t even know how I would use a grab handle or running board to get in.

‘my wife on the other hand makes full use of that handle as a passenger

Do you step over the running board or do you not have running boards?

I have shallow steps on my truck for the grand kids and my wife who is 5 2. I'm 6' 260lb with short 30" legs. I dont use the steps and lean into the seat, get a cheek on it and slide in. If I make the seat more than a few pulls up from the bottom, I'll hit my head getting in. When sitting in the truck, my knees are pointed up. WTH. When I'm in my wifes Rav4, I sit higher in that !

I hate the seating in this truck. I can never get it right... Had I known this was going to be such a pain, I wouldn't have bought it. I also hate the lack of a split bench in the back.

It's not enough to make me hate the truck, but the seating is horrible.

I'm actually happy there's no grab handle, I knock my hat off a lot of times getting in, I'd be getting whacked upside the forehead if that handle was there.

I agree about the bad geometry, the seat goes so low you can't see out! If I lower it till the mirror isn't blocking my view reaching up to the wheel isn't comfortable. If I move the seat fwd a touch the reach improves but the pedals are too close. If the pedals were adjustable or the column would telescope farther it would help. I do hate that huge mirror housing.
I'm with you 100% on the steering column. Wish it extended another inch or 2. My previous truck had an arm rest on the right side of the seat. On long trips I could rest my elbow there while steering. I've thought about trying a console pad that extends a couple inches farther forward, but they are not listed as fitting the Gen6 models.

I put a set of the “step style” running boards on my previous truck. They would hang up on any ledge drop off I crossed. I’m not a fan of them myself. They hang too low for even mild off roading IMO.

No problems here. I'm 5' 10'', 185 lbs. and turn 70 later this month.
Left foot on the running board, left hand on the door arm rest for balance and then step in with right foot leading.
This method also minimizes wear and tear on the bottom outer seat bolster.
Thankfully I don't feel my age yet 🤞
Hey "hand-filer" I've seen you on here alot but never heard your technique getting in your Ranger. I'm going to try your hack.

I currently put my right foot on the step first, with my heel facing inside the truck.

Then I put my left foot on the step heel facing inside the truck.

Bend my hips and knees and shove my a** into the truck and drop and spin all in one motion.

I've gotten so good at it that when people see me doing it, do a double take sometimes.

I'm 6' 155lbs.

That's what I do too, although sometimes I just get in and don't use the running boards. But my leg rubs against the running board when I do that and either my pant leg gets dirty or my bare leg gets sandpapered... So I've gotten into the habit of backing in. The "back-plop..."

I just tried that. Failed.
At the point where I should be entering the truck the roof hits my shoulder. The more I leaned or ducked I got really unbalanced and had to grab the wheel. Still couldn't get in.
Even if that worked, I've seen a few steering columns ruined by people using it to drag their fat asses into the truck....
