My 2025 Ranger has 2,700 miles on it and now out of the blue, after 60 seconds of running, the coolant temperature reading goes from the bottom range to a red indicator and warning message about coolant overheating. The check engine light now stays on. I'm assuming I've got a faulty sensor of some kind because there is no way the engine can be overheating after only running for a minute. Because the engine thinks it overheating, the air conditioner does not come on and the high speed radiator fans run continuously. Going to the dealer to see what the issue is. It is throwing a P118 code when checked.

Geez, I remember the days when you bought a new car, you kept a running list of everything that was wrong with it to get fixed at the first service. If it is just a minor wiring or sensor issue, I don't think there is any reason to regret the purchase. Heck, it's still under warranty.

UPDATE - The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor was bad. It has been at the dealer for a week awaiting the part to arrive. On Friday I was informed that the part is now back-ordered and the truck may have to sit at the dealer for another week. Back-ordered ???????
