When my RR is in sport mode, it downshifts aggressively as I stop. I haven't looked at my tach, but the rpms certainly jump. Is there any chance that is what you feel?
Never in sport mode.

Any chance you’ve got big feet and you’re catching the gas pedal with the edge of your foot when you brake?
I had this a couple of times when I first got my truck. It was accompanied by a message on the dash saying something like Brake Applied, Power Reduced. It was me catching the accelerator with my foot. It was just a learning process for me.

if I am slightly on throttle to 35-45 and I let off the truck continues the shifts to the next gear and rev matches it. so basically its surging forward when I let off the gas. one time the gas didn't work and just quit on me. I think something in the drive by wire pedal is getting stuck or hung up.

It’s happened to me on my 2025 Ranger Raptor.

One time, it was accelerating so much the tires were squealing when I had the brake engaged

it’s so random, that I haven’t taken it to the dealer cuz all they would say is “we can’t replicated it”

but, I need to take it in…..if it happens when my wife is driving….she’d really freak out

Hey OP, could you share a video of the issue so I'm sure I fully understand.

I'm interested of understanding the exact issue, and hope you can find a resolution and share as well.

Seems like people have different weird behaviour with brake /gas when idling at a stop(?). I do too but the topic is not about mine.

Make sure the floor mat is not catching the throttle pedal when the brake is applied.
I have seen it happen. Not on a Ranger though.

No, I'm always on automatic. I just checked with AI and they suggest it may be a faulty sensor in the brake pedal when the auto start stop is on. I will try it tomorrow.
I had that happen a couple of times with my 2024, 2.3, XLT. No explanation on that. I held my foot to the brake when it revved. I actually don't know how I stopped it, I was so surprised, just kept my foot on the brake.

Since most everyone else is actually being helpful, I’ll add that the truck is begging you to send it!
You normally have to pay extra to brake boost up to 4k!
