hi guys
i have a ford raptor 2024 purchased brand new . Australia
On cooler mornings / evenings i have plenty of steam coming out of my exhausts.
What the issue is that even after an hour of driving and the car is well warmed up it’s still steaming . Also water dripping out from underneath the car.
Taken the car back to the dealer. They hand me the keys back and say its fine.
would really appreciate some advice.
The one with the exhausts is after 90 minutes of driving .
thank you

I had the same concern, dealer said it's fine. Now that is 90f outside it doesn't show any exhaust fumes. 2.7v6

Pretty sure that’s just condensation from the turbos and humid air. I’ve had 3 different turbo vehicles and 2 of them (the ones with larger engines) did that any time it was like 65f or below outside or was foggy/humid. Assuming it’s just from the wet air getting compressed and having a bit more vapor through the whole cycle and the temperatures working out for that to be visible.

Seems normal to me. Water vapor is a natural result of burning fuel. When outside temperatures are low, this vapour condenses into visible steam.

What was the ambient temp and humidity? Is your fuel usage also normal? Are you using 91 or 98 octane?

Hi Stuart
thanks for reply
at the moment its about 5 degrees in the mornings in Melbourne .
i use 98 octane always & fuel consumption is never great. 480 to 550 km maximum out of a full tank.
i don’t know if this anything to do with it but i always have to top up my oil before my service time. Next service is in November and i only have 15% oil remaining. They tell me larger engines drink more oil ???

5 degrees is crisp so probably why you’re seeing steam

When you say 15% oil remaining, do you mean the oil life meter? If so that’s estimated oil life remaining, not oil quantity. The engine isn’t drinking it oil, the system just estimates oil life based on engine use, oil temps, long/short trips and start/stop cycles.

I also never make it from service to service before the oil life estimator gets to 20%. I change oil every 7,000km (twin turbos like clean oil) regardless of what the oil life estimator says. You can do the oil change yourself between services or just go to any local mechanic and get them to change it for you - I buy my own oil and filter and get my local mechanic to change for me. Only costs an hour labour for them to do it

Hey mate - just thought I would put your mind at rest. After many cold mornings here in Perth this past month (1-5degrees) I can confirm I too have exhaust steam even after a 1 hour drive on the FWY. When idling there’s a constant stream of steam coming from both exhausts no matter if engine is cold or warm, short or long drive. I think you can be confident this is normal

I’ve also noticed steam from exhausts is more common on other turbo cars (VW golfs etc) and seeing as we have twin turbos it’s probably even more noticeable

Anyway, thought I would update. Have a great day mate!
