Do you have to recalibrate with FORScan for the extended range tank? Or does it still assume you got the stock tank.

was under the truck this morning, looking at all the blank space where they could’ve made the tank bigger I’m starting to think about doing this upgrade.

I have been pretty tempted to get one as well.
‘I think you would have to recalibrate the trucks computer somehow or it would‘t know it had a larger tank.
‘Would be curious to know if there is a way to recalibrate the truck for the larger tank.
‘The tank is pretty pricey, curios what the recalibration would involve how too and how much more it cost to recalibrate.
‘Also curios what sort of cost there might be for the labor to get one installed.

Three RR installers within 250 miles of Wichita: Grandview, MO; Tulsa, OK; McAllister, OK. Did not see any for Yukon, AK. Recalibrate with FORScan by owner, according to website. Big job timewise per YouTube installation video. Might call for estimate.

Fyi so far it doesnt seem like theres a way just yet to recalibrate the tank size due to some technical reasons to do with the level sensor source being in the pcm for newer ford trucks. Hoping for an update on the forscan side in the future to allow for the change. I have the LRA tank and just mileage track now.

Isn't there some device that sends the fuel level to the module in the truck that calculates the range? I wouldn't think you would need to do anything special after getting a larger gas tank. Call the Ford dealer and ask.

There is a nearly one year old YouTube video from Australia showing the installation process of a Brown Davis poly tank by a professional. Not as straightforward as the instructions indicate. At 17:10, the Ranger owner says that Forscan can be used to reset the fuel tank capacity or you can take it to a Ford dealer where they will charge "about $160," which would be Australian dollars.

Apologies i mean the DTE wont update but you have to update the fuel capacity in a module that we dont yet have easy access to on forscan. Its an issue for many 2023+ ford trucks so far. And the Australian youtuber ended up in the same spot. Never got it updated even though they thought they could.

in short, theres still a value in the IPC that you can edit for fuel capacity but it doesnt do anything. Ford changed the source for fuel capacity to the PCM and there isnt an option in there yet for fuel capacity to edit yet.

+ different story completely for some of the other rangers like diesel ones where there was a factory/arb option for a bigger tank in aus.

heres the forscan forumn on the topic: https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14698&hilit=Fuel+capacity&start=60

I think I do like the Brown Poly tank better.
I was trying to figure out if that was a diesel only or gas or diesel tank.

For those us Americans 40L is 37 gallons.

I like the idea of polly

That 2.5 Hour installation time is really not near as bad as I was thinking it would be.

I’m pretty sure the brown davis tank is the LRA tank. I think it says on LRA that the tank is made or designed in australia. They look identical either way

Yea as I was just now continuing to research it looking for import options and cost, and it is not a poly tank it is Aluminum steel.

And looking at that particular version under a RR, it does look like the same tank only painted black.

Price sure looks to be a heck of lot more palatable. but no idea what the shipping and possible Customs fees would amount to.

Also, curious if the trucks end up leaning to the tank side when full?

I am just thinking with a 37-gallon tank that would add quite a bit of weight to that side of the truck.

Wow, that hangs pretty low. I wouldn’t want my fuel tank to be the first thing that made contact with a rock. There are other ways to carry extra fuel when needed.

I havent noticed a lean but i also have other weight in the truck that could be counterbalancing. With it being so low compared to CG and so central (right up against the drive shaft) i dont think it affects too much. Also with a tank that big u just dont sit at a full tank very often haha.

i do also have the eibach HD springs in the back.
