Not sure if all dealerships do this, but ours sold us an extended warranty, wrapped it into the sales contract (in 3 different places) for financing and then used the price of the extended warranty as the 'down payment'. We paid for what we thought was the extended warranty with a check, but it technically is not refundable to us now. Our mistake, but we 'assumed' it was a Ford warranty plan and it was not, it was a Fidelity plan. After hours of looking, negotiating and at 8pm with them closing, we didn't pay enough attention. We can cancel it and get Ford's plan, but with it wrapped into the financing contract, they will only credit it to the principal on the loan and not back to us. Just giving anyone getting ready to buy,,, a heads up to watch out for this. They have you sign the warranty contracts on a tablet and it does not show the company name on it, they scroll through super fast and do the signatures. We live in Fl so we can't get some of the discount plans I see on this thread, anyone here in Fl with a good plan?

21 Ram Rebel, Ranger Raptor on order.
Not in Florida but I have a plan through my insurance (Geico) and it’s only a couple bucks for up to 100k with a $250 deductible.
I replaced my front differential and axles on my 21 Rebel for $250 at the dealer as I was outside of the regular warranty… for me totally worth it and every time I add a new vehicle it’s instantly covered.

When I purchased my 2024 Ranger at the local dealership, I was asked if I wanted an extended warranty , I specified I wanted the Ford Premium Care Service/Maintenance plan.
It was added to the total cost.
My down payment was the trade in value of the 2017 Ford Edge, which I also had Ford Premium Care/Maintenance plan on. At 52K I had to have the engine replaced on the Edge due to an internal coolant leak between no.1 and no.2 cylinders. It was covered under the 5yr/60K warranty, the dealership said if it had happened after 60K, it would have been covered under my extended warranty with a 100 dollar deductible.

When I purchased in February I asked which warranty the dealer sold. Was told by the GM they only sell Ford Factory warranty (this is Jarrett Scott Ford, Plant City FL). I was very specific the warranty was to be a separate sale NOT included in the overall sale contract. They were happy to do this, splitting it out separately was not an issue for them.

My Mom purchased a '25 Honda CRV a couple weeks ago in Maryland, I helped her through the sales process. The dealer (Heritage Honda, Parkville MD) was offering a 3rd party warranty. I specifically asked for a Honda Factory Warranty, surpise, they sell them as well....AND....the Honda warranty has better coverage, longer time & mileage coverage and at a lower price point. I specified the warranty purchase was to be sold and paid for as a seperate transaction, not included in the sale contract. The F&I guy tries to tell us, nope that not allowed, that's impossible. I told him to, "make it possible or no sale today, we are leaving". He tried to call our bluff, so we started leaving.....until the sales rep caughtup to us and......it's a miracle suddenly everything can be accomplished as I defined.

The moral to the story, the customer has all the power when it comes to closing the sale. All you have to do is use that power.

wow! Wish Ford would get their act together on these vehicles. Glad you were all covered for everything. Our mistake was 'assuming' they were selling us the Ford warranty, always bites you in the butt! We'll be cancelling the fidelity plan and getting the ford plan as soon as we get our truck back. The dealership is 40 mins away so we'll just wait until then.

Very true, we got caught not realizing what they were pulling, and being overtired and at 8pm we should have just walked away from the whole deal. Hindsight is 20/20. We never bought extended warranties on our last 2 vehicles (toyotas) and never needed them. My 2007 Highlander had 248,000 on it and only a couple repairs, ac, water pump, alternator and radiator fan assembly, that' was it. Husbands 2010 tacoma had an axle and strut replacement, sold with 175,000 on it, so we just didn't realize the scams they are pulling these days. Love the ranger, but if toyota had a vehicle big enough that was towable behind a motorhome, we would have bought one. Hoping this brake issue( see my other post about 2025 ranger brakes)
is the last one that they can't 'figure out'. geesh. Thanks for your input, I will definitely remember it.

I never buy any extended warranty’s. When I explained my position to the finance guy at the time that I bought my Ranger, he looked at me like I had 2 heads! He asked “So, what are you going to do if your new truck needs a major repair?” I replied that I was buying a new Ford truck, and that I would certainly hope that it would not need any major repairs anytime soon, and that I would hope that he had similar confidence in the product. He went silent and just said “sign here.”

It can be tricky. Our dealer sells 2 warranty brands. Ford + 3rd party. The 3rd party has posters and pamphlets and is the one he recommended. Pretty up front about it, didn't mention Ford until I asked. Ford was more $, etc but luckily they were up front about what they were selling.
