Issues with My New Ford Ranger

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share some concerns I've been dealing with on my new Ford Ranger to see if anyone else has experienced similar issues or has advice on addressing them.

  1. Exhaust Leak?
I’m hearing what sounds like an exhaust leak, especially during acceleration. It’s a noticeable sound that I didn’t expect from a new truck. Has anyone else experienced this?
  2. Paint Defect
There’s a defect on the paint near the tailgate area (see attached photo). It looks like it wasn’t properly finished or maybe got scratched during manufacturing/shipping.
  3. Door Card Damage
The driver-side door card near the window has a tear (see photo). I have no idea how this could have happened on a new vehicle.

I’m planning to bring these issues up with the dealership soon, but I’d appreciate any input from those who’ve dealt with similar problems. Did you have success getting them fixed under warranty?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah those don't look like paint defects - They look like damage!

Exhuast def a leak - does not sound normal at all!

I would be taking that straight back to the dealer - I think something has happened to that RR. How many miles did it have on it when delivery was taken?

If you didn't point out the paint damage on the tailgate and the rip on the door card before you took delivery it may be hard to convince the dealer that the damage was there before you took delivery. Several trucks ago, when I bought my 2014 F150 Tremor the salesman made me do a full walkaround of the truck with him to look for damage or defects. I already had done it a couple times by myself but he made me do it again with him. Usually they just leave it up to the buyer to point out damage or defects before the purchase.

You need to do so now not later. personally, I’d contact the salesman you bought it from or the sales manager via email with the same photos you posted here explaining they are from new.

If you wait longer they’ll most likely say it was owner caused. The sooner you do the better.🫵🇺🇸

If it was present when you looked over your truck, should have done it then. I did not take delivery of my '24 RR because of paint defects. Your dealer could give you the run around on this.

I would definitely make contact sooner than later!
as someone mentioned in the thread it might take some convincing that the damage was there before handover… perhaps if the photos of the damage are time stamped you can use this as proof.
Good luck but definitely haven’t experience anything like this.

Unfortunately I bought this sight unseen due to it being an out of state purchase. And noticed these issues

The Ford dealer is Liberty Ford in Ohio

I had some slight issues in my interior as well.
There was some kind of contact cement on the drivers door card, steering wheel and shifter.
I pointed this out to the sales man and he talked to his guys in new car prep. They were aware of the issues and had already ordered parts. The dealer doesn't pay for these parts, Ford does.
Before you panic talk to your dealer and give them a chance to take care of it.
I bought out of state as well and Elkins Fordland was great to work with.

I bought my 2020 Ranger Lariat from Klaben Ford in Kent and I live in Florida. I did everything over the phone and they had the truck delivered to me and when it got here I walked around it and found a few problems and I called them right away, they contacted a dealer near me and I took it there and they fixed it. My 2024 Ranger is also got from Klaben but this time my wife and I went up there to get this truck. We made a little vacation out of it. We moved to Florida 7 years ago and no Ford dealers here can match the price of Klaben but I will admit we have been going to Klaben for about 25 years. Our next truck will also come from Klaben. Isn't Liberty Ford in Solon Ohio? Used to be a good dealer but I haven't been there in a long time.

I finally got a call back from the dealer today and was informed they merged with a neighboring dealer on 1/1/25 so somethings fell through the cracks. Was assured it would all get taken care of, so fingers crossed!
