So you would have to si ell it fot a significant above $50k just to breakeven with the dealers offer since trading it in should give you a sales tax credit to be applied to your new vehicle. I dont know your sales/use tax rate but I dont see someone paying $53k and no warranty except for the remaining factory warranty. Why hassle with a private sale if you have that great of an offer? Take the offer and enjoy the new vehicle.

No sales tax credit in my state. I'd rather have it go to someone on here for close to what theyre offering than trade it in. And I have a Ford esp that would go with the vehicle. So it will have warranty.

Rather help someone on here than trade it in.

I am not in the auto industry and don't know much about dealers or what their practices are. But I do always find it funny at the lines about modifications not impacting resell value / trade in value much at all. The last 2 vehicles I have traded in had a lot of mods (bumpers, skids, rock sliders, bed cover, lights, etc). When negotiating trade in, they always say that the mods don't impact the value.

Then I just say I will put stock skids, slider, wheels, etc back on. Each time I've done this, they magically offer me a couple to a few thousand more to keep the mods as-is. Each time they then keep the truck to sell on their own lot rather than wholesale, and it's been gone within a week.

At this point I just don't believe the line any longer

It sucks your state doesn't give you credit for tax you paid already......talk about greedy....lol. Hopefully someone will buy your truck...appreciate the mods and the ESP and give it a good home. Best of Luck!

Our Oklahoma tax rate on new is pretty low compared to other states, around 4%.
We do now get a very slight trade credit but only impacts the sales tax which is something like 1% and the excise tax is 3% , which I have no idea why they call it excise tax and not sales tax or what the difference is only know that’s what they call it and the trade credit on the 1% sales tax side is new I think it started in 2025. I used it once when I traded my Land Rover for my 25 RR.

Well truck world seems to be different than car world in this respect, provided the accessories are functional.
