Greetings, everyone. I bought a new Ranger Lariat FX4 with the 2.7 liter back in September but only found this forum recently. First new vehicle I've ever purchased, and I pretty much cannot be happier with it. Added some mud flaps, a soft tonneau cover, some seat covers and other minor interior doo-dads, plus some white lettering for the tailgate. I had a bright red 2013 F-150 but I no longer need a fullsize truck like that, so this was a great downsize/upgrade. Drove a couple hours to and from the dealership for this, but SO worth it!

Better tires are definitely on the to-do list -- Probably 265/70/18 KO3s, as well as a levelling kit and maybe nicer wheels (none of the stock options really look good, IMO.)

When you get tires be careful of the weight. Those KO3s are popular but they are rock heavy like 50lbs plus as compares to the 34 lb stock tires. Look at the nittos and some others. If you put 50lb tires and a level you may lose at least 4mpg and a lot of hp/performance. Search around this site and Facebook Ranger 24+ page. Aim to stay 40 lbs per tire. Good luck on the upgrades! Nice Truck!

Welcome! You might want to search YukonRanger who put together an excellent tire and rim calculator. Nice truck!

I appreciate the feedback, and that did send me down a bit of a rabbit hole. The KO3 are rather heavy (I've used KO2s pretty reliably on my last several trucks), but I do like the look and performance of them. Definitely making me put some more thought into the purchase. I also copied the tire and rim calculator file, so that's a great source of info.

Much appreciated!

Also, remember a heavier tire with a heavier side wall will give you a harsher ride.
Anyway, pictures don't do that color justice. I saw one in full sunlight and that thing was gorgeous. Really looked like a ruby.

Great point! Any D or E load range is going to ride harsh and weigh a lot more. Unless you will be doing some hard-core offloading the best bet is to stick with load ranges LS or B. Anything called a Light Truck (LT) tire will be a load range D or E and it will be heavy.

I think with the amount of ponies on tap he wont miss much. Also, KO tires are amazing...but heavy as hell like you said. However I got over 100k km out of my KO 2's and I pulled a trailer often.

Toyo Open Country At3 are nice tires that perform as well if not better than the KOs and are only 41lbs. I also heard there is a new lightweight KO coming out but I have no specs. No reason with today's technology for tires being so heavy. The big reason the 2.7 0-60 and 1/4 times are so close to the Raptor is that the Raptor comes with rocks for tires.
