Hi guys

For starters I would like to scan for fault codes in my Raptor. Anything beyond that is maybe for a later date. I know my way a little in the BMW world with inpa and ista, but Ford is new to me.

So it seems like Forscan is the way to go? Just buy an OBD to USB cable and source the software? I suppose the software usually isn't free? And does it matter what kind of cable?
Are there any good starter guides perhaps?

Thanks in advance!

I use the OBDLink MX+. It’s a wireless adapter. Works with many apps you can run from your phone. I keep it in my current Ranger just in case. Will do the same when I get my new Ranger.
Seems to be mixed info if it works to make changes through Forscan - I cannot say if it does or doesn’t.

I don't know how it is in your country, but all US cars made after 1995 have by mandate OBD2, whether made in US or not. There are cheap scanners that work with cel phone apps. Now, how deep of a scan you get depends on the software.
My OBDLink MX+ does some pretty deep scans for error codes or monitoring engine parameters and can be used on a number of vehicles. What it doesn't do is allow you to change and ECU/BCM modules with the app. That takes ForScan.

And what kind of app do you use? I was leaning towards using Forscan on my laptop, depending on how "deep" the phone apps can get. Thanks.

I have never used ForScan, so can't attest to the cable.
The OBDlink MX+ is a Bluetooth device that has its own phone app.

I use Bluedriver. I think I got it on Amazon. It plugs into your OBD2 port, is wireless and will scan all modules in your truck..
