Injector Cleaner

What are opinions on fuel injector cleaner products for the Ecoboost? Are they necessary (considering top tier fuel isn’t available)? What products are recommended and at what intervals?

I have always used Chevron Techron in all of my “sensitive” engines - like my fuel injected and carbureted trail bikes, my Honda mower and outboard motors that I service. I truly believe in it. However, I have not used it in my Ranger yet as I have just hit 1,000 miles. I will probably start using it in my Ranger soon. I do not believe that it causes any harm.

Chevron Techron is who created fuel system cleaner for direct injection engines. It’s the same additive used by top tier gasoline companies per the Oil Geek, Lake Speed Jr. I was told to use it for my BMWs by Turner Motorsports.

Chevron Techron is sold at almost every auto parts store. I’ve also seen it in Asia and in the UK

I buy Techron at Walmart. I have not tried any other cleaners but there are several brands on the Walmart shelves.

I just use top tier fuel.

Every few tanks I put a can of seafoam or a bottle of techron in to clean things out. While seafoam can be used several ways, like putting it in your crankcase to fight sludge, in this context I'm just talking about adding it to the fuel as an injector / intake carbon cleaner.
