I'd be genuinely surprised if we got anything of value May 1st-5th. $10 says its the satin cover coming off and Sam Elliot narrating the Raptor doing jumps. I'd bet trim reveals on the 19th. You give folks more than a week of being stuck in their own heads and the dealers are gonna get overwhelmed. Prove me wrong and I'll be a happy person.
I expect to get bit in the butt by Murphy's Law on this one. I'm leaving early June 1 on a 10-day road trip. If I'm correct that the reveal happens over the 3-day Memorial Day weekend- that leaves me May 30 and 31 to get down to the dealer and place my order. Found out the other day the only guy allowed and experienced enough with their on-line ordering tools is only working a couple days per week now in semi-retirement. With my luck he won't be working the 30th or 31st to get my order in before I leave  It would be nice if I'm wrong about the release date and it happens before Memorial Weekend but not counting on that. If they do the Reservation thing at least I'll be able to get that in and do the order in person when I get back.... I hope.

I think the chances of it happening by Memorial Day are about as good as the Toronto Maple Leafs chances of advancing to the second round. :bandit:

The Tacoma is rumored to be revealed May 16.
Maybe that's why Ford has been taking so long to reveal the Ranger in NA. In order to save advertising money they are going to team up with Toyota and do a double reveal. 🤪;)

Not sure the Tacoma will be relevant 1 way or the other for 90% of us locked into the Ranger as #1 priority if it checks the right boxes. 🤷‍♂️

Being the #1 selling mid-size, by a Huge margin, I think it's a pretty relevant reveal. From what I've seen here, there are a lot of members that are looking at all the trucks and aren't locked into the Ranger. Myself, I've hated the look of every Tacoma previously made and never even remotely considered it an option, but the new one has changed that.
I'm looking forward to both upcoming reveals.

For me, it's the new Ranger or nothing and I know a lot of people here expressed the same thing. I have a new Maverick, a low mileage F150 and no reason to just buy a midsize no matter what. Mine are paid for and only interested in seeing if new Ranger is an upgrade over Maverick in a couple areas I compromised on. If not I'm done. YMMV.

I think you just made my argument for me inadvertently. Toyota consistently sells ~250k Tacomas annually in USA, even with a dated platform with poor ergonomics for many people. This is due to brand loyalty and reputation and let's them overprice it.

Ford will be trying to get back to ~100k annually they had since 2019 return to US market and we don't know what MAP plant can produce yet. You think Toyota views this as a threat to its market share? Not short term realistically. All the 6G hype is being driven here by Raptor interest - and even that has limitations based on what pricing will be. People are declaring in or out based on that. Many 5G owners have already rejected the new styling and staying with what they have. I just don't see relevance tying the 2 launches together when starting positions and trajectory are opposite of each other?

I have a 23 F150 Raptor and am planning on trading it back in on the Ranger Raptor. My dealer offered me their 3rd allocation for one.

Can't wait to see the pirate flag fly high when Ford announces pricing for the 6g....lol

I'm pretty much done with these clowns till the smoke settles and they bring some inventory back to the dealer lots. Right now they have the upper hand in a big way.....and I sure don't HAVE to drive a Ford.....

This sticker price ridiculousness that has slithered its way into the car buying arena is criminal at best.....

Well if CEO Jim Farley has his way the inventories won't return. As he has said Ford wants to control levels to insure higher margins/profits. Mainly because the pandemic showed them they can make bank selling fewer cars. I do know that Ford prefers an ordering system over Trucks on the Lots. Last time I went to the Ford dealer they did not have even one truck to test drive and keep pushing me to order. I told them they are nuts to buy something I have not even seen or driven. However I don't no if oems can "control" the market that easily. That is, if the economy starts to go south and demands start dropping they will have issues maintaining margins. Because they can only scale back production so much. GM shut their full size truck lines for a few weeks last month because of sagging sales and dealers having to discount up to 7 thousand to move them. I still see RST's going for heavy discounts. Scary Mary might think she can control the market but it might be more to it then just shutting the line down for a few weeks lol. The other problem for Ford is they are beginning to get a really bad reputation for poor quality. Again when Jim Farley said QC is so bad that is will takes years to fix. After that statement I had allot of pause about Fords. Pretty crazy he said that publicly but he did. I'm pretty sure this launch of the new Ranger will be botched like everything else they released in the last couple years. The global truck was a complete mess as well and is riddled with issues as experienced with many Australian owners. This company is currently a train wreak.

What issues exactly are the global trucks riddled with? I hadn’t seen any widespread coverage of that.

There will be a Dealer webinar for the reveal of the G6 Ranger on May 10th and the order guide for it will be given to them then.
Nothing mentioned about Build & Price being available then, sadly.

Issues with the new V6 with misfiring and vibrations. Display screen having issues and many other electrical issues. Its no mystery that Ford in general is a mess as far as quality. In the US they spent over 2 billion in recalls and fixing issues in 2022 alone. Like I said Jim Farley even said the problems are so widespread that it will take years to fix. All I know is I would never be a new adopter for a Ford product. Look at what happened with the Bronco, Maverick, E truck, Hummer etc.. that were riddled with QC issues. And with Ford their dealerships are so backed up when you take it in they will have it for weeks if not longer. They are literally the joke of the industry. Not saying they can't turn things around but at this point in time, no thanks. My local Ford dealer has an insane amount of cars backed up in service. My friend had his in service for almost two months. And it had to go back soon after he got it back. Top of the line Explorer. He has had nothing but trouble with it.
