if the sirius app works INSIDE android auto, you could control it with your stock sync 4a

That is one way, but the downside is if you lose cell signal. You lose access to your sirius music. I would talk to the ppl at cruthchfield. You can get a sirius antenae for around 70 bucks. They can walk you through the install and setup.

I lose my Sirius signal far more than losing my cell signal, but streaming music with a weak cell signal is iffy as well.

I put a couple dozen cd collections ( so like 600 tracks or more) on a memory stick, I was was surprised sync4 recognized and displays the artist, album, genre, tracks etc and can be searched by voice command!

Re the OP question, I believe the big touchscreen is not just a radio, I'd bet its integrated to the truck and will only work with Sync4 and all the other components. Could be wrong, I'm a luddite....

I should have said it to start with, but I live in the desert of Arizona. Losing cell coverage is daily thing. I have used the sirius app on my phone on the drive home from the dealer which was 3 hours away. I dropped a bunch and it's frustrating.

I looked on crutchfield’s site, and they do not recommend replacing the head unit in our rangers. Most likely due to the vast integration of vehicle controls into the head unit.

To me, it looks like getting this unit would be your cell signal availability.

Thanks, Mike.
I was hoping for more of a Factory switch to an XLT or Lariat's. Maybe not a Raptor because that probably has a MSRP adjustment as well. :giggle:
