J braces back in stock

Hi Guys,

First post here - bought a Ranger Raptor in October through Park City, UT dealer and have had a frustrating experience trying to get this j-brace issue handled. Have a diamond back cover sitting in my garage now since mid-December and not being able to throw it on for Ski season has been getting increasingly annoying. Right after I bought the RR, my dealer called me telling me I need to come back asap to do the j-brace install. Well, after driving two hours there and giving me my truck back they told me they just did the software update and I would need to get a cover before they could put them in. I called them after getting my cover and the service guys didn't even know what I was talking about - after "researching" they told me that since I didn't buy a Ford cover they can't order or receive the part. Basically telling everyone who doesn't want a ford cover to pound sand.

I have another dealer who claims they have an order in for me for the j-brace from their distributor but am not holding out hope there either. I tried the links at the beginning of this thread for ordering them from Ford parts and neither links work now - seems they delisted the brackets entirely from their website. To give you guys an update - I called Ford Parts and they could not locate these as for sale. Just submitted a case and email to someone up the food chain but I guess for now anyone with an aftermarket cover won't have an option to get these, even on backorder.

I seriously can't believe how Ford has handled this for what seems should be an easy fix. Basically half my truck is useless and I can't use it for what I bought it for. What sucks is I love my RR and have had no other issues. But now I'm wishing I just went with GMC. If any of you find these for sale again please let me know.

This should definitely be fixed via recall. I bought the braces and spoke to my local dealer about it last week. He looked it up and said they would install it for me (for free), they just couldn't sell it to me. Sounds like they've delisted the product or something.

I don't think Ford covers this for their bed covers, just their campers/toppers/caps/whatever they are called in your region. I bought a Retrax and Braces from Ford. I installed the braces myself. Maybe they'll recognize and reimburse in the future, but...

Thanks for the additional input and options. I spoke to the other dealer that stated he has some on order for me today. He's checking in with the distributor for an update. If he comes back saying he can't get them I'll look more into compatibility with the EGR braces or the Maxliner ones you re-linked. It seems the extra ford braces set Dard6555 has is for non-raptor models. I thought I had heard there were differences between the raptor and non-raptor braces, do you know if that is correct?

Interesting on Ford only covering this for campers/toppers, the Park City Dealer re-told me today explicitly that they could get me the braces if I would have ordered a Ford cover rather than a DB. But... I'm not too trusting of the information they give me anymore.

i talked to my dealer about all this- since i put bed bars on and in tossing the tent on shortly for some winter camping. the recall says “extreme offroad use” but ford doesn’t describe what that is. dealer told me screw it and just run it, because it’s not in the manual that braces are needed, so they can’t deny it. this dealer has been the best i’ve dealt with in a long time.

i just wouldnt take the chance to brake something as im sire myndealer won't deal woth anybsorts of warranty.

Come on Forum, is there a Attorney in the house. My RR was built in 8/24 and now it has been impossible to find these J braces. Come on lets do this before I break my ford tough bed. SERIOUSLY
