Hey everyone! First time posting here, I’m coming from a 2021 Hyundai Veloster N that got lemoned, and recently put me into a brand new 2025 Ranger XLT 2.7L. I’ve been looking into the Ford Performance tuner, it seems like a good option but I wanted to ask if anyone here as installed a JB4? I had one on my Hyundai and loved it, very noticeable difference in performance, it was very reliable for me, and I could get any and all of the warranty work I want done without an issue. I see they have one for this model and want to give a go at it. Price is $678 With the optional bluetooth connector, and advertises some very nice gains. I know a flash tune is always better as far as performance goes, and this plug and play wouldn’t change shift points which is the biggest con on paper imo. Anyways share your thoughts here!

anyone....anyone...?

Interested.

On paper if you get 350+ hp out of the 2.7L and since it weighs 1000# less than the RR it should have the same power to weight ratio- RR acceleration for $20K less

I think the Ranger is perfectly safe and comfortable to drive, but after testing out the cornering I lost all interest in the v6. It handles like a truck, and I happen to have a tt v6 sports sedan, so a sporty Ranger doesn't add much value for me.

I did have a JB4 on a prior vehicle and it threw CELs for extended pulls, computer reported under boost, not heard of those issues on the Ranger yet, but YMMV.

I understand not seeing the use in making it sportier or faster really, it’s not a sports car, however I think a lot of people here would be interested as this is the “sportiest” mid size option I found when looking for a truck, and that certainly steered me closer to the ranger than its competition. Not terribly interested in making it faster right now, but maybe at some point I’ll look into it more. Curious what other people thing on the JB4 for our trucks, I had no issues and loved mine in my old car. Plug and play power with no ecu changes, and removable without a trace is a plus.

I decided to be somewhat of a guinea pig, since I haven’t been able to find much info regarding the use of a JB4 with a 2.7L ranger. I bought one and am awaiting the arrival to test it out and give my review of it! Cost me $650(and had to ship it to someone out of state to ship to me, damn you California) total, we’ll see if it’s worth it!
