Why not use marine grade fuel tanks and strap them in? Sloshing is par for the course on all marine applications.

Garvee 6 Gallon Portable Marine Fuel Tank - Outboard Boat Gas Tank wit

Think about your average boat on a lake, even small ones. A little wind, another boat's wake...it's just hard to avoid repetitive impact / movement in marine applications.

They shouldn't leak under those conditions and should be dot approved because they are designed to be transported in a boat on a trailer on the road to the lake....

Anti-sloshing inserts were another PIA with Rotopax mandated by California. We wanted to upgrade the crappy spouts to billet ones and couldn't without internal surgery.

Haven't seen or heard of any sloshing issues offroading hard in Baja with Tuffjugs (or.VP Racing jugs).as long as everything is tightened down and in a proper holder such as the @American Adventure LAb holder.

I've seen a bunch of failures from VP Racing jugs from not being strapped down properly and the jugs wearing out underneath and then finally just failing. Not good as you then lose 5 gallons before you know it. But, this is with Raptors driving hard on EXO trips.

So, keep.the lids and spouts tightened and use a proper holder.

And yes, Tuffjug has a Ford fill adapter with cap which we now leave on fulltime.

Appreciate you sharing your real-world experience and for the kind words about our holder — that means a lot to us.

You’re spot on about the anti-sloshing inserts and the limitations they create, and we’ve seen the same thing regarding jug failures almost always coming down to improper mounting rather than the jug itself. Securing them correctly makes all the difference, especially when vehicles are being driven hard.

Thanks again for taking the time to write this up and for the positive mention. We genuinely value feedback like this from people who actually put their gear to work in the real world.

I had already gone to copy the link to some fuel foam to provide a suggestion for the sloshing when I got to the rest of your post. We're not in the fuel container market, which is full of crazy regulations due to California, so I won't be able to do much about he sloshing. The other thing to consider is it would be very hard to get any type of dividers into a can. Most of them, maybe all of them, are rotomolded so they can do the one piece mold and prevent injection molded seams. So, that doesn't leave a huge filler neck for us to slide dividers down into. I'm not sure our insurance company would let us build fuel container parts without a firm talking to. 😂

I agree on the side handles. That's one of the main reasons I like these Tuff Jugs.
Whoops this is what I get for skimming posts : for some reason I thought you were designing a system (including mount). Ok - that's on me .... I would have saved you all a lengthy post that wasn't exactly relevant. ( tyvm for responding though! )

I think you're on point - making the jug holder/mount attach top and bottom - perhaps offer a way to 'sister' them together for a more unified strength aspect. Removable option would be cool... maybe a way to have mounts that also include moto rack carriers too. (while being removable).

Yea - Cali / CARB It's a steep entry design ramp to be compliant here. (bordering on "never mind" we'll just not ship to Ca.) lol. I hear ya.

For sure keeping kit properly secured makes a difference, mine live on a moto carrier so they suffer an amplified experience. : )

FYI - the rotopax feature can be removed (just requires a bit of surgery) - it's actually designed to stop a flash fuel fire (not specifically anti slosh, although it performs that function too). Yea - I went the Al3 billet route too...
