Any recommendations for a low profile tool box that fits below the rear window (across the box) ? I don’t want it sitting above the rails. I would like to add a tonneau cover at some point

UWS makes good boxes. This one does sit on the rails, but is below the sight lines of the window. The mounting holes line up with the bed rail mounting locations too. I have a UWS TBS-63-LP

Isn't that a smaller saddle box that would normally be over the bed?
I believe there are some Tonneau cover solutions, (like BAK undercover tool box) that have under-bed storage. I just don't think they have fitment yet for Rangers, but could be wrong.
There are some ideas for underbed boxes/side boxes here. Many have universal fitment, so you'd have to figure out a way to secure them with your truck. Truck Tool Boxes - ELITE TRUCK — Elite Truck

Thanks, I am not sure what the original design was for. Fit my needs on the F150 perfectly. I never permanently mounted the box, I used a ratchet strap from the tie downs. It never moved in 14 years and I could take it out if I REALLY needed the extra space. I’ll check your links.
