Motor oil and filter - does it matter what kind?

Any experience with turbo damage or failure as result of dirty or clogged banjo type turbo oil filter?
Maybe this video makes sense or maybe just scare tactics... but maybe low cost maintenance that can potentially save big bucks? What's your opinion.

The oil at the sump has a screen filter before the oil pump, the main oil filter and then that turbo oil filter screen. The main oil filter usually has a bypass and the sump screen filter is for larger debris. Sure, add it to the list to do.
