Hey everyone, just purchased a 2025 Ranger Raptor and I’ve never bothered with an extended warranty. I’m retired so don’t put a lot of mileage on my vehicles.

Has anyone bought the Premium Care Extended warranty? I was quoted $3300 less $1000. for the 8yr/60k warranty - so $2300. if purchased within 1 month of the vehicle purchase. In my mind, in 3 years I’ll have 30k on the truck and my comp warranty is gone.

I would prob bump it to 8yr/80000k. It’s almost a no brainer, am I missing something??

Thanks!

Yeah, I am a bit concerned with the warranty. Like you i would run the time out instead of reaching the KM's

Does 8 years start from when you buy the warranty or after the original 3 years end. Also make sure you follow all the manufacturers suggested maintenance intervals or your claim for repairs could be denied.

It starts when you buy it so really the 8 year warranty is only 5 years as the manufacturers is 3.

I personally have never looked at the protection service. But when they say it’s a 8 years but really only giving 5, that’s a red flag. But they are not giving you 60,000 miles either. They’re only giving 24,000 since the original is giving 36,000. So I guess the buyer have need to decide what a 5 year 24,000 mile warranty is worth. And it may be worth nothing if you don't preform some sort of preventative maintenance item you should have.

Best getting it, if you are looking to keep it. There is a lot of electrical, and programming problems that Ford has not figured out. Like driving mode changing on its own. Kind of scary. Mine spent 2 weeks in the shop. It would be very speedy paying this on your own. That’s my take

Yeah, I got the portfolio extended warranty. Luckily, I befriended the finance guy and they gave me it at cost+100$, literally said I would not take it otherwise.. Still paid 4k for 100k miles/10year.(Cali warranties are always higher) Agree with you about electrical. Drive train are generally solid its all the electrical, CPU, etc that if it goes, you will have to pay a lot

Get the extended warranty. Worth it. IMHO

Thanks for the opinions! The truck will likely stay in the family for a long time unless it turns out to be a lemon. It’s the electrical stuff that concerns me and I know I’ll run out of time vs running out of covered kms. I guess I have some pondering to do. Just love this truck though!

Your factory warranty is 36k miles or 3 years. You’re basically buying a warranty that covers 24k miles for $2300. Very rarely do major components fail before 60k. Save your money

Almost everything a person buys today offers an extended warranty. I’ve even bought a few from time to time over the years. I’ve never used one of the few extended warranties I bought. I also cannot recall the last time I said sh*t I wish I bought an extended warranty. I take very good care of my stuff and as of this day I still no longer buy extended warranties. Put all the money in a special account and create your own extended warranty. I bet after 10 years you will be able to take a nice vacation with money you would have spent.
