New 2025 2.3 DI engine

I'm really disappointed in Ford for not releasing any information on this upgraded engine (3.2 Direct injection) that Ford is now offering as an option for the 2025 Ranger
I purchased in July a 2024 Ranger XLT FX4 4X4 with the 3.2. Just love everything about the truck but having the upgraded engine would have eased any future carbon build up issues. Wonder if the new DI engine will have cam phaser issues?

It didnt in the mustang all last year. I agree though that Ford have should stepped up on this announcement. The other big question is the 2024 Mustang with the new 2.3 has 45 more horsepower and 40 more ft. lbs of torque. Is that what I just got or did they detune it??

This is not correct. That is the old engine. Ford has not announced the specs on the new one yet. Unless they decided to tune it down to the old specs.

I gottcha. Nothing has been changed in print. Its a very confusing turn of events with what is going into the actual trucks. All the design engineers for these reside in Australia so they are the ones that would know.

I’m sure they didn’t announce it because it would have killed sales on the 2024s. I bought a late model ‘24 (12/11/24 production date) in February and would definitely waited for a ‘25 had I known about the engine change.

Australia doesn’t get the 2.3lt or 2.7lt petrol engines. So I doubt the Australian design engineers would know

We get three engine options down here:
2.0lt twin turbo diesel - 4 cylinder
3.0lt turbo diesel - V6
3.0lt twin turbo petrol - V6 (Raptor only)

I grew up in Dearborn and know some Ford folks at MAS and they said thats where all the engineering decisions are made on the US RANGER trucks.

I think the 24s will be the sought after year more specifically the Raptor. 25 and up Rangers and many other Fords have a new ECM that’s highly encrypted hence not tunable for the foreseeable future.
The new 2.3 has more power and I’m thinking it’s going to have the same power rating as the new explorer, I think the Ford build and price page will update at a later date to reflect that.

watch some YouTube videos, they have the new 2.3 with duel injection. Like I said the ford website is not accurate all the time.

Ford Australia don't have the 2.3 in the Ranger, VW Australia Have the 2.3 in the Amarok which is the Ranger with VW facelift, 222KW or 300HP, 452NM torque, 0 to 100k 7.4 sec Faster than 3.0 v6 by a second.
