I have a 25 Ranger XLT. Tried hooking up my camper for the first time and it went ok at first. I started going through the trailer light test and lights working and all of a sudden all the lights went out and the truck says there is no trailer plugged in.

I’m using a CURT Bluetooth break controller but it doesn’t seem to matter if I plug it in with that or not. There seems to be no power to the truck plug. I suspected a fuse but I can’t seem to find one that’s blown and the fuse box diagram in the manual doesn’t match the truck.

Any ideas?

Well I was able to test with another vehicle and it looks like this may be a trailer issue.

I would still love to get a fuse diagram that match the car though.

Not the exact same issue you have but I had an issue with my trailer brakes not working on my 24 RR. The dealership checked it and said everything is working so they had me bring the truck with the camper to them and what they find was one of the pins on the truck was not making contact with the trailer plug. They fixed it and I’ve been to Alaska and heading back to Ga without any problems.

download the full 600+ page owners manual from fords motorcraftservice.com site. its a free pdf, vs the like 200 page "quick reference guide" supplied with the trucks

Does the trailer have LED lights? If they are too low resistance the vehicle won’t recognize a trailer is plugged in.

My truck doesn't have an issue with the LEDs on my trailer or hitch packer. Both are all led with no resisters or anything.

Usually if a trailer doesn't register, it's a ground. Most trailers ground the lights to some random spot on the frame at the end of the harness. Corrosion, or rust messes it up and then the lights don't work. If the wiring all looks fine, check the ground.

The truck recognizes the trailer with the completed circuit. I've had a few trailers where grounding to the trailer chassis didn't work well, so I ran the ground back to the 7 pin instead, which solved the problem entirely.
