OBD11 gen3 vs ForScan

Coming from VAG group (still own 2 VW vehicles) where I extensively used OBD11 for adaptations/apps/coding factory functions, I was wondering if Gen3 Obd11 (only US Ford models) would be able to do things ForScan can?

Have you any experience ?

Why risk it? Forscan is purpose built for Ford’s software. Even if it did work, I doubt it would be as stable? You risk bricking your entire vehicle if there’s any communication dropout

It’s also free to download and use so why not just use it?

I have access to Ford IDS (engineering tab) for work.
ODIS was not available to me at the time, hence I invested in OBD11/VagCom and learned how to work with it.
Gen3 is said to have full potential similar to ForScan.
Hence my inquiry!
