Hi all. I bought a 2025 Ranger just before thanksgiving and currently have about 2k miles on it. I just washed it today for the first time since buying and noticed a paint blemish/scratch under the rear window weatherstripping or trim. It’s pretty small—maybe an inch or so and maybe down to primer but not bare metal. Definitely not something I would have done, at least not knowingly. I believe it probably came delivered like that. Only reason I’m tempted to ask the dealership is because I’m in New England and have been driving on salty roads. I don’t want it to corrode down the road and have regrets. But I’ve also been back to the dealership five times for other issues (a window issue and a check engine light they couldn’t figure out). I’m kinda tired of going back… Is this something they would even consider fixing? I’m guessing no. Should I just suck it up and touch it up? Thanks in advance!

There are more of those scrapes under the door panels. Pop one off and have a look. Seems like a lot of mishandling of painted parts during assembly.

For consideration....
Experienced front door edge paint peel. Determined warranty issue by dealer and covered by Ford. [posted link]
Be careful, aware...most dealerships will sub out these jobs, so no telling what service/suppler quality levels and results are going to be.

Due to defect location entire door was repainted. Spot repair not possible, no chance for proper blending.
Definitely noticed a difference in color match at certain angles, light. Also found rear door [not affected by peel] to be littered with swirl marks over ~10% of surface area.
Color match issue pretty much a wash. Don't believe a redo will likely improve matters and its a concern 98% of people will not notice. What chapped my hide was causing swirl marks on the unaffected rear door....
"sometimes the cure is worse than the disease" Jus say'in

Thanks for all the input. I'm glad to hear that there's a chance they'll warranty it, but I was worried about exactly what @smokinjoe64 mentions. And this is my only vehicle, so it would mean losing it for a bit (again). Maybe I'll reach out to the dealership and see what they say. I'm less concerned about the aesthetics as I am about the potential for future corrosion or rust in that area.

Assuming Ford approves warranty claim, which is likely, a loaner or rental vehicle is covered; no expense to you.

Expect 3-5 business days for completion depending on repair type; spot/touch up or full door repaint. IMO, touch up is least desirable for appearance based on pic and being in ‘plain sight’…

Good luck…let us know how it goes

Thank you! I reached out to the dealer, who said to call back Monday when the body shop guy is in. We’ll see…
