Ranger Raptor Brake pads

Has anyone installed EBC "EBC Extra Duty Light Truck, Jeep & SUV Brake Pads" to next gen Ranger Raptor?
Another question: is the front brake system same for petrol and diesel engines?
Just need to get little more stopping power / better pedal feel...

How many miles do you have on it? After a few thousand miles the feel is ok, but alot better than when I first got it.

As for more stopping power, youre going to have to get tires with better asphalt grip. Bigger brakes is going to handle heat buildup and consistency but wont really help stopping distance

About 8700 miles at the moment. They have got a little better and "grippier" after a few thousand miles, but still far from what I feel acceptable and safe.

Tire grip is not a problem, but not being able to trust the brakes is a problem. When touching the brake pedal, you never know how much pedal travel and/or force is needed to stop the truck. I was hoping that brake pads with higher friction coefficient could improve it at least a bit.

Coming from sport cars and even from 17 years old pickup truck, RR brake feeling and uneven grip is in a class of it is own, negative way... I have never before experienced brakes like this, after 31 years of driving lots of different cars.

So, I asked DBA about the pads and rotors.

This is what I ordered. When it arrives, I will install and report back here.

I got tired of RR brakes and ordered DBA Xtreme front brake pads.

Is it just business as usual brake pad replacement, or is there something special I should know?

Replying to myself: very simple and quick job, you just need 13mm and 10mm sockets after you remove the wheel.

Brake performance is noticeably improved with DBA Xtreme front pads. It is still not near a sports car brake system, but almost allright for me now.

Depends of what set of tires I am using, at the moment NK MT-1 315/70-17 32 psi

Gotcha, I was going to recomend a lower pressure but you are there already. I run 35 cold on stock K03's and braking on stock pads is improved. You could always play with pressures. maybe go up 2lbs and see what it feels like. Stock there is no bite but I have always been a bigger fan of brakes that have less bite and more torque. Most modern cars as you know tend to use high bite pads. Gives the driver initial confidence that they are going to stop. I used to be that guy, now I want torque with more pressure. The only issue is these pads lack good modulation.

With OEM pads, feeling was very soft and complete lack of modulation is what really bothered me. I felt that pushing the pedal did not correlate to brake torque; pushing the pedal deeper never gave the feeling that stopping power got much better.

With new pads, yes they have much higher friction and initial bite is somewhat stronger, but the difference is smaller than I thought. But modulation is improved alot, now pushing the pedal makes me feel that "someone is at home", pushing the pedal deeper gives linear feeling regarding stopping power.

Coming from race cars and street sport cars, brakes have been my biggest dislike of the RR. It is not their size, which I think is okay for a truck that has lots of kilos to transport per horsepower, but the problem is how they operate.

Ah this is good to hear! I have a similar background and have had to adapt more than I would like. I’m going to look into these pads. You just did the fronts right?
