Has anyone installed different brake pads and/or rotors to either get better pedal feel or improved braking performance?

I’m not interested in spending thousands on crazy aftermarket calipers but if a different pad compound or better rotors improve the ranger’s brakes then I’d do that in a heartbeat.

I’ll bet different rotors and composition pads, along with stainless lines would have a substantial impact on pedal pressure and overall braking.

I’ve never had a Ford truck that’s had really goods brakes. It always takes some modification to bring them up to what I‘d consider excellent braking.

This is the next project but I believe I’m going to have to have the SS built. Haven’t seen any available yet for the RR.??

I'm sure anything would work better. My brakes began screeching, so I brought it to Ford. The guys at the shop said it was because Ford decided to use a recycled material for the brake pads, which create a sort of dust to build up on the rotars which causes screeching. They cleaned everything up under warranty but basically said it would happen again.

Need to put brake anti-squeal on the back of the pads. They’re giving you a BS story.

It’s not brake dust that causes it. The only way this can happen is with a metallic composition pad. Brake dust doesn’t build up on rotors. It’s harmonic vibration. Anti-Squeal stops this.??

The pedal ain't great, but AFAIC the bigger braking performance problem is the K03s. Been very gentle breaking the pads in, but... Massholes... had two hard stopping situations where it sure felt like the fronts locked up. Just 400 or so miles on my set so far; fingers crossed they eventually develop a little more bite.

EBC appears to offer their full catalog of pads and rotors for the Ranger Raptor:

https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/usa/FORD/Ranger Raptor 4WD/

I'll be making that call, soon. I'm considering Yellowstuff pads for this vehicle. They're the same pads I used to ensure my Discovery II would stop on a dime and leave you nine cents change. It takes a while to bed them in, but once they're ready, they're damned effective.

You can lock up road wheels with any brakes if you try hard enough. That doesn't mean the brakes are appropriate or not for the vehicle. When I'm considering braking performance, I'm considering evacuating energy from the system; not whether or not the tires can handle it.

That's the next consideration. I get the vehicle braking properly, and then determine how much of that performance I'm willing to sacrifice with my tire choice. Stock fitment on this vehicle is actually a fairly poorly-braking tire.

If I find DOT approved stainless braided lines at some point, I'll install those, as well. Pedal feel in the Raptor isn't ideal, either. There's a significant disconnect, and I wonder if there aren't a few extra rubber hoses in the system somewhere that ought to be changed, as well.

It can take a little longer for these tires to break in. Mine began behaving as intended around 600 miles, or so; but they're never going to be the best choice on the road.
