Ranger Raptor VS. F150 Lariat

oh, and that was another bonus I forgot. My wife drives a 2018 CX-9, about 4,300lb midsized SUV, AWD turbo 2.5L from Mazda, so similar in size to a regular ranger, but not quite as big as the RR. Her parents also have a 2008 Silverado 2500 diesel that's a work truck, so she was thinking all trucks are like that since she's driven it a few times for her dad growing up (it's old, well over quarter million miles and in need of major maintenance overhaul).

The 2500, like most work trucks has sloppy steering, bouncy ride, wanders all over the road, noisy etc. so that's what she was picturing when I said we should get a Ranger Raptor after having looked at the Colorado ZR2's and Tacoma Trail Hunter's.

When we test drove the Raptor she said, "this drives a lot like a big CX-9". So, the buy-in from the wife was a lot easier since the truck is precise and agile, not overly cumbersome as she was thinking when I said, "off-road baja truck". If you have a spouse that's used to mid-size or even full-sized SUV's, it's an easier transition for the spouse as well since it's not so intimidating.

Yes, my wife drove my 470 HP 2016 Mustang GT PP manual I had previously, but that was only a 3,700lb car with high performance suspension and Pilot Sport 4S tires, so not exactly hard to learn. She really liked holding the stick

You cant go wrong with the RR. If you wind up with the Lariat, you'll never know the joy of being one of the fraternity. Chance encounter just this morning...
