Definitely should be covered under warranty. Mine was including the damage to the seat back. Mine now closes normally. I don't have to do anything special like gmarcucio is suggesting.
You are absolutely correct, I shouldn't have to do anything special like I mentioned to get the seat to latch because of a faulty part or poor design. What was done under warranty for yours to work properly? Any new parts, latch, striker, etc.? Do you happen to have a copy of the repair order from the dealership you can share with us describing what they did to fix the issue? Thanks!

Not sure where I put the repair order. No new parts, they said they adjusted the latch and also a bracket was interfering. Based on the picture I shared in this thread previously; it might have been one of the brackets circled.

Sure looks like the child seat anchor point left an impression on the back of your seat. It sounds like a widespread issue.

It has a logged complaint with NHTSA. Also there is a SSM from Ford. Dealer replacement of the latch assembly for the win. Link to SSM here, 2022 Maverick.

When/If I take delivery months from now, I'll be checking this for sure.

I removed both of those seatbelt tether brackets to see if they were getting in the way but it didn't make any difference. Now that I see here the fix for the issue the dealer will perform I'll bring it to them and have them replace the latch.

I remember the service writer saying "bracket" but the description of the work says, "found the head rest hitting a bolt on a box on back cab panel". That sounds more like it was the subwoofer.

I added lock washers under the catch. That fixed it. But I shouldn't have to do that on a new truck. :)
