This last weekend I had some issues with getting a seatbelt warning in the instrument panel when I has passengers in the rear seat. On more than one occasion I had 2 people in the back seat, and the display said the middle rear seatbelt wasn't buckled, even though there was no one in the middle position. I had to keep hitting "OK", which would silence it for a minute, then it would come back on. Eventually it stopped.

On another occasion I had 3 people in the back seat and while all three were buckled, I'd get intermittent alerts about one or another not being buckled.

I seldom have people in my back seat, so normally not something that would come up. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this before.

Should mention, 2024 Lariat.

Thanks,

Looks like I found a solution from page 57 of the owner's manual:

i turned all those alerts off using forscan. you can get rid of them very easily if you end up getting tired of them that way

There's a known issue that if someone tries putting one of the side seatbelts into the center seat seatbelt receiver the truck will give warnings until the truck is restarted. (The belt won't clip in, but it's enough to trip the sensor). Suspect this is the cause of your first issue. When I had it happen I had my passenger plug in the middle belt even though the seat was empty to work around it.

As for your the second issue that could be something more serious, and which could be causing your first problem as well. Might be worth having it looked over by Ford.

Personally I disabled the rear seat presence sensing using Forscan, which auto clears the seatbelt OK message when the truck starts, and also solves related erroneous warnings, but that's for you to determine if that is a good option for you. It still shows seatbelt status on the screen, but it no longer gives warnings when they become unbuckled. I don't have kids, and I often use my back seats to transport heavy ish things that trigger false warnings, so they're more of an annoyance than a help. If I had kids that regularly used the back seat I'd probably revert it.

I had something like this once. I think the passenger wasn’t buckling in properly. I also had the rear center armrest down.

im not sure what happened but it went away with some flurry of action from my passengers.

i normally have the center seatbelt wrapped under the seat so it doesn’t flap around When the seat back is down.

this time I plugged it in so it always shows up on the display as buckled

I am hoping that will prevent any confusion in the future with passengers.

I had the same issue when a rear passenger right side clipped into the center receptacle. I normally keep all unoccupied seats with buckles fastened - - eliminates seat belt rattling against the pillars.

I tried this and no joy. Found steps in RR owners manual and it said buckle/unbuckle 4 times. Again, no joy… maybe it’s me.
