Posted this a few days ago on Facebook. Anyone else have this issue where the coil sprint are rubbing holes in the shock shaft boot? Only 1200 miles. Dealer ordered new boots and is going to try and reposition spring.

More likely the spring itself is defective - incorrectly wound. I doubt that “repositioning” it will do anything. The boot should be nowhere near the metal. It should be very simple to measure the distance between the coils and the shock body in several locations, with the boot removed.

Or else the lower spring perch is off center…. Regardless, it should be very easy for any competent tech to diagnose the problem.

I hope that’s the case. I do have to say that I have looked at unrelated posts that have suspension issues and have seen similar tolerances between the coil and boot with some looking like they were fully touching. Hopefully this isn’t an issue with ranger raptors moving forward.

To me it almost looks like rodent damage. Keep an eye out on your truck.
