1. I like to use LIM when passing through small hamlets where their main revenue stream is speeding tickets. Although in the touchscreen menu you can set it up for a max of 5 MPH over, I discovered that when you are actually using it you can adjust it further with the cruise control toggle, 1 MPH at a time. Your new adjustment is only good for that particular stretch, it will go back to 5 MPH if the speed limit changes.
2. The speed limit sign recognition doesn't work on LED digital speed limit signs. We have them on I-10 so they can reduce the speed limit during dust storm conditions. Today I passed 3 and even though they read 75, the dash display went from 75 to 65. It would only go back to 75 after passing a non-digital sign.
3. On a rural road in national forest the speed limit was 50 but several times the dash display would go to 25 even though there were no 25 MPH signs, and Google was still showing 50. It's possible that we passed close to some gravel FS roads where the limit was 25, and as we were in a weak data area it may not have tracked us exactly and thought we were on a nearby FS road.
4. This one is disappointing, we drove a lot of steep grades and I tried sport mode and tow/haul both, with CC on and off both, and there was no downshifting to control downhill speed when coasting in drive. With CC off, I would have to use the brakes, and slowing in this manner would eventually force a downshift but probably due to speed. With ACC on I could feel the truck braking when approaching slower traffic but never downshifting from 10th gear. Even my TDI would downshift automatically when coasting in drive. The only way to really control this is to shift to M and toggle the gearshift button while watching the tach. (I would really like paddle shifters for mountain driving)
As an experiment I am going to rig up a test light in the cab that lights when the brake lights are on, I am really curious when/how often the brake lights actually come on when the truck is automatically slowing down on the ACC. I also wonder if it is possible that the truck could automatically over heat it's brakes when in ACC and following traffic downhill without downshifting, seems likely that it can.
PS It looks like my highway average MPG is going to be right around 20-21. We did get over 23 on one tank with mostly 55-65 highway, but 20.5 avg at 70-79. All hand calculated, I haven't even looked at the trip computer yet.
