Hello.

i am curious if any STX owners in here have upgraded to LED tail lights. I found one individual who purchased a set off alibaba.. he said the fitment was better than expected and no issues so far… but I am super hesitant go that route. Being a motorcycle tech.. anything electrical eBay and alibaba is a HUGE NO in our industry but I don’t know if it’s like that on the automotive side. Ford wants almost 2k for both sides.. but I found someone who’s selling the ford ones for half the price.. but I don’t even know if they would be compatible in the STX because of the blind spot detection.
Thanks for any input, I really appreciate it.

you can log into with forscan and activate/deactivate stuff to get them to just be tail lights, if you need to.

i don't plan on going led because on the gen5, it was a huge issue with theft of those led tail lights. people would punch a hole in the tailgate to manually unlock it and then steal the tail lights to sell to body shops or on market place. the lights are super expensive so it was quick easy money to a some rogue character to just steal all the tail lights they saw at a motel/hotel regularly.

my buddy had his stolen twice and then he got rid of the truck. said he couldn't drive it anywhere because he was worried it would have no lights when he came back.

i haven't seen anything like that on the 6th gen, yet, but i wouldn't want to be the one to have it happen to first just because i upgraded to led lights

Yeah I heard
If you just want to replace the bulbs with LEDs, there are options out there already.

For example: 2024 - 2026 Ranger CREE LED Brake Light Bulbs
yeah I will probably swap out the third brake with leds, but I’m waiting for Morimoto or anzousa to drop something. The stock xl tails stick out like a sore thumb, and I wasn’t willing to pay 4k extra for a rear window and led tails. Everytime I look at my vehicle my eyes are immediately drawn to the eyesore lol.

I've had halogen bulbs in all my taillights for years and never had an issue. I had a 2010 explorer for 10 years and never replaced any bulbs at all. Why would you need to go LED?

Two reasons 1. because bright red tail lights look like absolute shit when the entire vehicle is dark. Sticks out like a sore thumb. I don’t have the income to drop thousands of more dollars for a rear sliding window, a leather steering wheel and led tail lights. 2. LED last forever, look better, and provide higher visibility when you tap that pedal for idiots behind you texting and driving.
