Same here. 5-6 is the worst.
A few questions for you should you know...

How are your transmission temps? Are they about the middle of the dial, or creeping into the right half? (Or if you have actual temps)
I have noticed mine a bit past the middle of the gauge lately.

Any idea on your transmission fluid levels? Are they as expected?
I have not checked mine, but am curious if I have a low fill from the factory potentially.

How many miles does your truck have? And is this something new or developed over time?
Mine has been this way out the gate. I've had the truck for about five months now with ~5500 miles. I've had poor shifting since new that has gotten better over time, but the 5-6 deal in Sport mode we're talking about has been the same since new.

My temps usually sit around 200ish. No idea about the trans fluid level. 4k miles and it has always done this in sport at partial throttle.

I’m wondering if we are low on fluid. Just watched a video of an ST and it might be something to look into. Just hate the idea of going to the dealer.

I have had some miserable experiences with multiple Ford dealers. Honestly, it’s the #1 reason why I haven’t dug in further. I have to defend myself throughout the exchange. I just don’t have time to play the games and they know it, so I get worn down and just walk away. Sad that’s the tactic, but service isn’t for me, it’s for the revenue line for them.

For what it’s worth, my first engine oil change was low.

i bet that low fluid could easily be the issue. its not just ford that has been accidentally sending vehicles out with low trans fluid. that was a nissan issue on the new titans and frontiers for a while too.

What is considered low?
There are some on 5G that swear their trans was shifting bad due to low fluid, and that adding a 1/2 quart fixed it. I doubt that. Variances if 1/2 quart could just be temp related. Plus, that trans hold about 13 quarts, 1/2 quart won't make a difference. But if you are more than 1 quart, it may be wise it fill it, us Motorcraft® MERCON® ULV Automatic Transmission Fluid
